Local attorney Baldemar Garza is pictured above speaking to fourth grade students

Twenty two representatives from numerous occupations, especially in the medical,
business and law enforcement fields, spoke to the students about their areas of
expertise.

Students from kindergarten
through the fourth grade at Roque
Guerra Jr. Elementary had the
opportunity on Friday, May 21 to
participate in Career Day.
They had a chance to explore
career avenues and hear from people
in different occupations.
A guest assembly kicked off the
day's activities with Dr. Mario
Ramirez M.D. as guest speaker.
School plays were presented by
Mrs. Mary Vale's class entitled "A
Trip Into the Future" and Mr.
Adolfo Pena's class entitled "What
Will I Be?"
Twenty two representatives from
St. John's bids farewell to
minister, welcomes new one
from Corpus
Sunday, June 6 was Robert
Bauer's last Sunday in the pulpit for
the St. John United Methodist
Church of Rio Grande City.
During the service, Diana
Peterson read an original poem for
the Bauers and Larry Bailey played
"Auld Lang Syne" on glasses Filled
with different amounts of water.
After the service, there was a
covered dish luncheon with a cake
that read, "God Be With You."
Sunday, June 13 was Mike
Swearingen's first Sunday in the
pulpit of St. John Church. Mike,
his wife Cricket, his children Kerry,
Amanda and Holly, and his
grandchildren Mikey and
