tunnel where It is believed the bodies
of the victima are located hus caused
work to be turned to the removal of
the wrecked and burned passenger
coaches In the tunnel.
There are three cars still to bo re-
moved which aro the second class
coach the first class coach and tho
private car of Superintendent Ollinor-
lln which was on the reur of the
train. All that remains of these cars
is the steel frame work anil wheels.
These have been twisted and warped
by the heat and it will be several
days before they can be taken out.
A cave-In of rock and earth occurred
near the private cur completely cov-
ering it with hot- earth and rock
which will have to be removed be-
fore tho framework can bo taken out.
Fire Burn-. Fiercely.
Tho fire in the tunnel proper con-
tinues to burn fiercely and the mine
experts who went tu assist In recov-
ering the bodies say that it muy con-
tinue to burn for six weeks. After
that It will take some time for the
tunnel to cool sufficiently to allow
the dirt and rocks to be removed.
Officials of the North-Western Hall-
way company have considered tho
plan of erecting bulkheads ut the two
entrances to the tunnel in order to
let the fire smother Itself but since
It haa gaini-d such headway und the
entire Interior timbering of the tun
nel has been consumed by fire this
will not be done. Instead they will
probably place a "blower" at one en
tronco to give draft to the present
fire so that the timbers now burning
