EASTERN NATIONAL
GUARD IS EXPECTED
IN EL PASO TODAY
Two Trains of MassachuMtU
Troops Due at Fort Bliss
This Morning.
The vanguard of the national guard
army now en route to the border la
due to reach El Paao at 5 o'clock this
morning over the El Paao and South-
western railroad when two traína
bearing 1.800 Massachusetts ruar (la-
men will arrlvs. The flrat train will
come to the city while the second
will he sidetracked at Fort Bliss
where the troops will unload.
Thia morning's traína will be fol-
lowed at clone Intervals by other
bearing guardsmen from Connecti-
cut. New Jersey Pennsylvania and
other states.
Great secrecy is being observed by
the army authorities In the movement
of these troops from the east to the
border. The war department has or-
dered the officers of the militia to
reveal nothing as to rhelr destination
the railroad officials have been cau-
tioned not to talk and the newspa-
pers have been Invited to refrain from
using information which might be
valuable to a possible enemy.
May Be Secret Drill.
Here In El Paso many of the army
officers believe the war department
has originated a "secrecy" drill for
the entire United States. Heads of
the army are believed to have Inatl
tuted the precautions against reveal-
ing the disposition of th militia or
ganisations largely for the purpose of
ax ertaining lust what can be accom-
plished along that line. Although
th. re is no foe In sight worthy of such
great secrecy ths army officers ara
tr Ins to conceal all movements in or-
der to ascertain Just how much they
would be able to conceal In time of
real warfare. In a way the entire
nailon Is being put on its honor to
kep "mum."
It Is known that El Paso will be
mad the camp around of a larga con-
tingent of the new troops this being
th. storm center of the Mexican trou-
ble and the largest city on the Mex-
ican border. But just how many of
th' troops will be sent here when
thVy will arrive and all detailed In-
formation the heads of the army pre-
faf to keep to themselves. The num-
ber has been variously stated at from
10 100 to 25.000.
No Censorship Yet.
Mo general newspaper censorship
has been established as yet and it is
pi bable none will be except along
th. border after the troops have ar-
rived. An army officer said that In
case an invasion of Mexico is ordered
th" border newspapers probably will
have their army news censored. Tele-
graph companies will be ordered to
at -ept no messages containing news
of army movements unless the mes-
sages bear the approval of a military
censor. An announcement regarding
the proposed censorship is expected
to be made not later than Sunday
said an officer yesterday.
