highly respected cltliens died at bla bome
bare on Tin avenuo early this morning.
Ha had been tn railing health ror tbe past
year and when It hla advanced age. his
condition became critical the rirst of the
week the end was not entirely unexpect-
ed. Mr. know at was a vararan or tnc civil
war. righting with the union torcea. He
was justly proud ot his service and at-
tended all the great reunions or the vet
erans wrncn nave neen neia in various
parts or tbe country.
The runcral of Mr. Knowles was held
from his former bome here this afternoon
and waa largely attended. Among those
present were many members or the Old-
timers' club of Demlng. The runeral ser-
vices were conducted by Rev. W. E.
Foulks of tbe Methodist church and the
pall hearers were: J. A. Ehrmann Chris
Hsithel. Ouly Patty S. A. Llndaucr Sam
Scbwlng F. Delaunay and J. A. Ma-
honey. Burial took place In Mountain
