gridiron warfare on Friday (tomor-
row! night at 8:00 in Hornet Stadium
against Trent.
Football workouts have found
some 33 boys reporting daily, and
scrimmages have been hold with the
Hamlin football squad.
The Aspermont Lions Club met
at Hickman Restaurant on Tuesday
noon, to begin its 1958-59 club year.
Lion President Lowell Welch, pre-
sided.
The Phoenix Club will hold its
first regular meeting of the year on
Friday. September 5. at 4 p.m. in
the home of Mrs. Carl Duncan.
Old Glory's first homecoming
was held with over 800 former stu-
dents and teachers present.

The annual Rinn Reunion
was held in the Sons of Her-
man Hall here last Saturday.
Four of the children of the
late Mr. and Mrs Henry Rinn
were able to attend the re-
union this year. They were:
Mrs. Oscar Vanderworth of
Old Glory. Mrs. John Wenile-
l«nn of Stamford. Herbert
Rinn of Rule and Alton Rinn
of Austin. One of the brothers.
Allied of Stamford, was un-
able to attend because he was
ill and is a patient in the
Hamlin Hospital. Another
brother. Elmer Rinn. who lives
in Oklahoma, also did not at-
tend. Others who attended
were families of above, their
children and their families,
also a group of cousins from
Austin and Tom Green Coun-
ties.
Word has been received of
the death of Mrs. M. Shatto.
Aug. 5. Mrs. Shatto taught
math in Old Glory High School
in 1957-59 while her husband
was pastor at St. Paul's Lu-
theran Church in Sagerton.
She will he remembered with
affection by her many friends
and former students. Her
passing was due to a heart at-
tack at her home in Ontario.

Friends of Army Sgt. Glenn
Dale (Shorty I Baumbach
learned last week thai he had
!>een wounded in Vietnam.
Shorty was a student at Old
Glory School before moving
to Paint Creek with his par-
ents several years ago.
According to his father,
Otto Baumbach. the family
received information indicat-
ing the boy had received severe
wounds in the stomach, chest
and eyes, and that >th hands
had been amputated.
About 200 people gathered
in the Old Glory School eafc-
toriurn Saturday e\ening to
honor Charlie I.etz. w ho re-
tired last .June 30. alter serv-
ing the Old Glory community
as Rural Mail carrier for 44
years.
The crowd enjoyed a has-
ket lunch served by the ladies
attending. A short program
afterward featured Herbert
Rinn of Rule as principle
speaker. Mr. Rinn. formerly
postmaster at Old Glory and
now employed by the Rule
post office, was associated
with Mr. Letz in his work for
more than 20 years.
Two plaques were awarded
Mr. l>etz for outstanding
service, one was given by the
circulation department of the
Abilene Reporter-News, the
other by Ford Motor Company
was presented by J. K. Veazev
of Aspermont.
The final gift awarded Mr.
and Mrs. Letz was a colored
T. V. bought through contri-
butions of patrons and former
patrons along the rural route
Mr. Letz served, also their
children and other relatives
and friends.
All or Mr. and Mrs Letz's
children and their families
were present. They are Mrs.
<). D. Vanderworth of Denver.
Colo.. Mrs. .Jerry Calicoate of
Monahans, Roger Letz of Fort
Worth and Thomas Ix-tz of
Graham.
Dinner quests in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Silt -
-or last Wednesday were Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Helm of Bur-
ton. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kix-h
welth of Lissie. Texas. Also
Mrs. Suter's brother. Otto
Lehrmann of Sagerton. Mr.
Helm and Mrs. Kochwelth are
brother and sister and are
cousins to Mrs. Suter. The
Suter's grandson. Jerry Mc-
Cowan of Knox City, has also
been here spending several
days with them.
Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Macon
of Rule visited in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Flowers
last Monday. They had just
returned from Irving where
they attended the wedding of
their son. Carrol Reeee Macon,
to Phyllis Jean Bounds last
Friday.
Mr. and Mrs, Sam Appleton
of Tulia stopped here a few-
hours last week with Mr. and
Mrs. B. R. Johnson. They
were on their way to Abilene
to visit in the home of their
son. Dr. Timothy Appieton
and their daughter's family,
the Jim Batsons. Mr. Appie-
ton was superintendent of Old
Glory School about thirty years
ago.
On Tuesday of last week
Mrs. Lynn Flowers met three
of her sisters, Mrs. James
Overton. Mrs. W. H. Hargrove
