Mr. Ad Kerr of Weatherford spent Sunday in Thurber with
friends.
Mr. Ed Wilson of Cisco visited relatives and friends here Sun-
day and Monday.
Rain, and plenty, during the week. Bridges, culverts and

this week.

Rev. Mr. Wood, Methodist pastor, was returned to the Thur-
ber charge by the Cleburne conference, and will preach Sunday
morning and night. This will be Mr. Wood's third year here.

Dr. J. A. Crenshaw, of Abilene has located here to practice

A letter from Mr. Frank Lehan, at San Marcail, New Mexico,
to friends here says that he is well pleased with his new position
in the railway office, being thrown with an office force of whole-
souled, genial fellows reminding him much of his Thurber asso-
ciates. To the latter he asks to be remembered.
Friends here have received invitations reading as follows:
"The honor of your presence is requested by Mr. and Mrs. M.
V. Mitchell at the marriage of their daughter, Hines, to Mr. W.
A. McSpadden, at the Methodist Episcopal church, South, on
Thursday evening, November thirteen, eighteen hundred and
ninety-nine, eight o'clock, Cisco."
C. A. Snow & Co., patent lawyers, opposite the United
States Patent Cffice, Washington, D. C., who have actual clients
in every city and town of the United States and Canada, report
that never before in their 25 years practice has the work of the
office been so well up to date. They claim that patents can now
be procured in less than half the time formerly rpquired.
Mrs. Caroline Meyer, Brownwood, Texas, writes: "For sev-
eral years prior to 1890 I suffered from Stomach and Bowel trou-
bles, Fainting Spells and Bleeding Piles. Was treated by best home
and St. Louis doctors without benefit, and but for Dr. M. A. Sim-
mons Liver Medicine, which cured me, I feel that I would be

Polish society was astir Sunday and Monday. A double wed-
ding is no ordinary, every-day affair, and that's what was sol-
emnized and celebrated on the two days mentioned, the initial
ceremonies being conducted at the Catholic church Sunday
morning by Father Dolje. The after-events were prolonged at
the homes of friends on No. 2 hill, to which friends of all nation-
alities were invited and participated.
E. G. Siggers, patent lawyer, Washington, D. C., reports the
following patents granted to inventors in the State of Texas.
He will mail copy of specifications and drawings of any patent
for 10 cents in stamps: W. H. Dana, Dallas, valve for smoke-
conveyors and spark arresters; A. B. Dockery, Uvalde, spring-
latch; S. B. Frank, San Antonio, dry press brick machine; A. J.
