Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. will kick off the
week, and there will be a rosary
every night at 8:30 on the chapel
porch.
Booths will be available all
week in Haggar foyer where
students can vote to decide which
pictures taken in Rome last year
will be displayed in the Cap Bar.
A booth will collect donations of
clothing, toiletries, and school
supplies, to be taken to St. Vincent
de Paul. Students will be able to
give themed tuck-ins to friends or
roommates.
Also open all week is the senior
jail, where students can pay to
put their friends behind bars. On
Thursday and Friday, for $1 per
student, a class can put its professor
in jail and get out of class. For $1
per student, a professor can put
his or her students in jail.
KAOS, or Killing As an
Organized Sport, will take place
all week as well. By signing up
before Charity Week and paying
a few dollars, students get a
water gun and the name of a
student whom they must kill
while avoiding being killed by a
similar assassin.
This year, KAOS will be called
Homeric KAOS and will be a
team sport.
The additions that have been
made to this year's Charity Week
are all resurrections of traditions
from years past.
"Kate [Wolfe] s parents went
here, and they used to do costumes
back then," Hoitsma said.
Other traditional events have
been around "since back in the
days of our parents/' junior
Michelle Moran said of the male
auction.
"We ask guys to participate
in auctioning themselves to the
female company of UD," she said.
Typically 40 to 50 males sign up
to be auctioned.
Charity Week will begin with
Family Day, Sunday Oct. 3, from
10 a.m.-2 p.m.
On Monday, a silent auction
will be from 8-9 p.m. in Upstairs
Haggar. Gift certificates to
restaurants and movie theaters will
be donated by local businesses,
and several professors will donate a
dinner at their homes for auction.
A movie on the mall will follow,
from 9-11 p.m. Monday's costume
theme is spiritual heroes.
A faculty talent show will
be in the Rathskellar Tuesday
night, and professors will display
their talents. Dr. Marcy Brown-
Marsden and Dr. Susan Hanssen
will emcee the event, and Hanssen
will sing drinking songs from G.K.
Chesterton. Tuesday's costume
theme is ancient heroes.
Air Band, a lip synching show,
will be on the Haggar Veranda
Wednesday night from 9-11 p.m.
Wednesday's costume theme is
everyday heroes.

Thursday from 9 p.m. until
midnight in the Rathskellar.

in Lynch Auditorium from 8-10
