Your scribe having received the in-
telligence that Turner's Mend is not
the proper name for this (dace we
come out with a new heading this
week. It suits the writer just as well
to use the name Washington, as we
rather like the name. It being re-
inembrance of historical occurrences
of which all Americans should be
proud. This|name leads one's mind
back to a time when i'mich were not
as they are now. When men's hearts
were not contaminated with the pre-
sent rottenness of politics. Those
days were days in which the Goddess
of Liberty indeed held sway in these
C. S. A. ; a time when politics might
truly be defined as "the science of
government." Hut why dwell upon
this subject at such length, when
every true American regards the
name Washington with reverence.
Yes we like the new name Washing
ton Farm better than the old name
of Turner's Head.
Farmers are preparing to plant
corn next week, but some of them
will not plant till the next following
week.
