For Twenty-four Years we have Succeeded in doing a Successful Business in Bastrop, and
It was because we have at no time attempted to deceive the people or tried to palm off up-
on the unsuspecting, Trashy, Shop-worn Goods, under a make-belive of selling them at half value.
GOOD GOODS And we dare to assert that they cannot be obtained in any market at
half price, for the larger the market the better the chances to dispose of
them, and in many instances a small let-down in price moves large blocks
of goods, when the CASH is shown.
In large quantities, gives us a big advantage, enabling us to secure the best goods
at such low prices we can afford to sell these goods, of the very best quality, at

'That New York man who commit-
ted suicide rather than let his wife
support him displayed more in-
dependence and delicacy of feeling
than any suicide of whom we have
ever heard. If all the no account,
lazy, good fur-nothing fellows who
are content to let their wives support
them would commit suicide how vast-
ly more animated the world would be
and what a good opportunity they
would give their afflicted wives to get
another husband who would mpport
them ; but, alas, there has been only
one fellow out. of a multitude of bus
bands who did his wife I It in favor by
shuffling off the mortal coil, and it
seems the poor fellow almost broke
his heart trying to gel woik. His
wife could say this much of him, at
least, between her sobs : "( Mi, John
was so good to me."- Statesman.

the same lady gave birth to a healthy

the case, said : "Such cases are so
rare that this may properly be class-

The Karnes County News Man is
responsible for the following:
A minister in Kansas wanted to
deliver a sermon. He had heard of
sensational methods and wanted to
gisc his cotigregat a surprise. A
negro was taken into his confidence
as a confederate, and stationed on the
roof just above the pulpit. In the
lads keeping was intrusted a pigeon,
which was to be let loose in the
church through a convenient hole at
the proper moment. The church was
packet! and the preacher, having
stormed his denouncement, raised his
voice and cried: "And the holy
ghost descended in the form of a
dove," but no dove appeared, lie
pealed bis sentence. Still no dove.
At the third outcry a black face ap-
peared at the hole in the roof and the
query came: "I'aison, a cat done
gone and eat tie Holy (Jhost; but I
got tie cat. Shall 1 frow her down?"

kept. He was accosted by one of
those inmates who supposed him to
be a new patient just brought in and
said to him: Well what is your fad?
you have one of course? Oh yes, re-
plied the high tariff champion, 1 be-

prosperity will immediately follow
