The Bad Boy Gets The Apples."
im
x'owser, you watch them boys, they're
too good to l^ave alone." Then the farmer
turned to the hired man, "What do you
think John they had bee 1 a telling me?"
One says, "I just climbed up for fun." An-
other says "He wanted to see if the Apples
were ripe." The third one says "Climbed
up for exercise." The fourth "Was chas-
ing a Butterfly." The fifth "Didn't know
how he got up there." The sixth, "Playing
hide and seek." Seventh, "Because the oth-
ers went up." Then the lot of them said,
"They're good boys, but that the little feller
you're a holdin' is a bad egg."
"Now let's see what the little critter has
to say," and he turned to the boy in John's
grip. "What was you a doin' here." The
little chap braced up and looked the Squire
in the eye, "Pickin' apples and puttin' 'em
in the basket." The farmer with a grin on
his good natured face, said, "John, let him
go and take the Apples with him. He's a
bad 'un. If he stays here he'd spoil them
good boys shure." He went apples and all.
The Squire then turned to the boys in the
tree. "You boys are so good you'll bear
watchin'. I'll leave you awhile. Towser'll
look after you."

From the above little story you can
readilv guess our position as the very bad
little boy. We have told you all a straight
forward truth about our going to leave Bas-
trop, but unlike the boy and the good natur-
ed Squire, who directed the hired man John
to turn him loose, and help him with his
basket of Apples to GO, we can't find the
good natured merchant to help us off with
our basket of Dry Goods, Clothing, Shoes,
and cetra. and so we, like Towser, must
guard our interest and welfare, and continue
in business, and we promise you to faith-
fully watch every interest of our customers
a-id keep PRICES lower on all the lines we
handle and the standard better than ever.
In the next few weeks we will show a new
and complete line of the Season's Novelties
in every department. Our Closing Out Sale
has worried a few but pleased THE PUR-
CHASING PUBLIC—They are the many.
