BASTROP COUNTY MEDICAL
SOCIETY MEETING.
The Bastrop County Medical
Society met at Smithville, Thurs-
day, March 14th, Dr. H. B. Combs
president; Dr. F. J. Kraulik, act-
inp secretary.
The minutes of previous meet
ing read and approved. Several
clinical cases reported and dis-
cussed. j
Dr. J. H. Powell read extract
on surgical dressings of Balsom
Peru in Castor Oil; 1-2 dram oil
in 1 oz. Castor oil.
Dr. A. L. Brown read paper on
fckin and venereal diseases.
The Delegate to State Associa-
tion was instructed to favor the
Anatomical bill, and was left un-
instructed in regard to the one
examining board bill.
Dr. Chapman was elected a
member of Board of Censors to
fill unexpired term of Dr. Wat-
xon, deceased.
Drs. Taylor. King and Wood,
were appointed a committee to
draft resolutions of respect on
the death of Dr. Watson.
Dr. M. M. Gough's application
was received and referred to the
Board of Censors, to take the
regular co irse.
Drs. Chapman, Wilson and

The evils of the patent medi-
cine and secret nostrums were
discussed by the members and
the following extract was read,
showing the position of the man-
ufactures in regard to criticism
of their products or to laws in re-
gard to their sales:
1st. It is agreed, in case any
law or laws are emacted, either
State or National, harmful to the
interests of the Co.,
that the contract may be canceled
by thern from date of such enact-
ment. and the insertions made,
paid for pro rata with the con-
tract price.
2nd. It is agreed that the . .
Co., may cancel this
contract, pro rata, in case adver-
t sements are published in this
paper in which their products are
offered, with a view to substi-
tute, or other harmful motive;
also, in case any matter other-
wise detrimental to the
Co's interests, is permitted to ap-
pear in the reading columns, or
elsewhere, in this paper.
