An Explanation:
l The sudden, unexpected closing
of my Beef Market, calls for ex-
planation.
I had rented, or rather verbally
leased, the building from its for-
mer owners. Fisher & Lambert,
and, at heavy expense, had'fitted
it for a first class market. The
building was sold, and the new
owner and I not agreeing on a
new lease, I decided it was best
for me to close the market, and
did so. at once.
To my friends and patrons, I
desirejto extend my appreciative
thanks for their liberal patronage
promising, so soon as I can secure
a building to suit me, and f:t it
for a first class market, I will re-
open. better prej a red to furns'i
my patrons satisfactory Market
service.
Again, thanking friends and
the public for their very liberal
patronage, asking a continuation
of the same liberal patronage, on
re-opening, I remain, apprecia-
tingly, yours to please,
Geo. W. Schaefer.
—During the storm of last
week a number of men were plow-
ing in a field in Crafts prairie, on
Hon. J. S. Jones farm, when a
stroke of lightning descended kil-
ling the hoi se of N. E. Morris,
and tearing a plow all to peices.
The plow man, though shocked,
was not seriously injured. An-
other horse was knocked down,
but not injured, and was soon on
his feet. Several plows were
running very close to the one to
which the killed horse was hitch-
ed. and the escape of the plow-
men and other horses, was indeed
a miracle.
