Editor Advertiser:
In your issue of April 6th we
find an article signed by Mr. C.
L. Moncure, with the following
statement: "1 stand for progress
and good roads; if you want this
vote for me; if you want this
precinct to remain the 'China'
of Texas, vote for somebody
else." , ,
We are surprised to learn from
such eminent source that there
is not a man in this precinct that
has the grit, pluck and energy
to stand pat for the progress and
upbuilding of our community,
and we doubt, very much whether
Mr. Moncure has ever seen a
first class road such as is in the
old countries, even China, and
we wish with all our heart and
soul and mi id that all of Bastrop
county, aye even the whole state
of Texas, had such roads, and in
justice to all, the writer of this
article has lived here long enough
to learn that we have many men
in our precinct who could manage
our aflairs as County Commis
sioner far superior to Mr. Mon-
cure or any other candidate for
that office; aye men who are ac-
Customel to earn their bread
by the sweat of their brow, by
doing many different kinds of
work, etc., for the public.
1 am, yours very truly,
P. A. Hanson.
