Exercises set for some time in

and Miss Annie Lee Haralson.
At the German Methodist
church announcement was
made that Mothers Day will be
observed by appropriate exer-
cises at that church at 10
o'clock in the morning next
Sunday. All the churches in
town are invited to unite iu a
mass meetiug at the opera
house Sunday night for Moth-
ers Day exercises, for which
the program is published else-
where in this issue. Everybody
is cordially invited to be pres-
ent and everything will be free
for nil.
The Ladies Reading Circle
held its regular monthly meet-
ing in the Library Room Fri-
day afternoon, Mrs..I. P. Fow-
ler presiding. The novel les-
son on Les Miserables by Hugo,
was led by the history leader,
Mrs. J. B. Price, in such as
Hugo's conception and presen-
tation of the Child. Truly the
gifted writer delivers a won-
derful sermou ami appeal for
childhood and emphasizes all
with the most graphic illustra-
tions. Miss Annie Lee Haral-
Hon handled the fourth act of
Shakespeare's Love L a b o r
Lost, in a most able and inter-
esting manner. In conclusion
the company was favored by a
fine rendition of a piano duet,
"Overtures from Frae Divola,
played with splendid skill and
expression, by MesdamesJ. B.
Price and T. P. Ilaynie.
The Bastrop County Board
of Examiners held special ses-
sion Friday and Saturday at
the court house, with nineteen
applicants for certificates pres-
ent. The following members
of the board are as follows:
Misses Adelia Kesselus and
Laura Murchison. Five from
the Bastrop Normal took this
May examination, leaving
prother class enrolled for the
June examination which is now
only four weeks off.
County Superintendent of
Public Instuction, T. N. Pow-
ell, made an interesting talk
to the Bastrop Normal in their
school room on Thursday morn
mg giving them helpful dots
on recent legislation, etc.
The T. C. Cain Chapter of
the U. 1). C. held its regular
monthly meeting iu the Public
Library Room ou Wednesday
afternoon with the paesideut,
Mrs. B. I). Orgain, iu the
chair and a full quorum (if
members present. After the
roptiue of business the pro-
gramme was much enjoyed as
follows: Rr ll Call, A descrip-
tion of the battlefield of Chata
nooga and vicinity, by Mrs.
Hugo Kesselus, and song, Dix-
strong proof of real merit.

ed administrator of his estate, but theie
is nothing to show that he ever qualified
as such by giving bond as required by
law. At the February term 1*41, he
applied to sell the patent mentioned
and authority was granted and acting
under it the claim was sold to ii,li T.

! this sale then, was void and passes no
