are still enjoyiug the open sky

of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nor-

The colored baptists out at
Autioch church closed a meet-
ing la^t Sunday wiMi the cere-
mony of baptizing a large num-
ber ot their converts, and a
good mauy went out from towu
to witness the services.

Matthis was called to perform

Methodist church as usual.

Baptist church, gave a good
sermon ou the subject, "I

fied. The singing by the choit
was sweet aud in harmonv with
the theme, led by Miss Luella
Craft at the organ.
Despite the hot weather,
i business continues to be brisk
lu real estate matters. Mr. ,1.
| H. Branuou aud wife, parents
of the proprietor of the New
Drugstore, Mr. S L. Brau-
uon, has bought the home
' formerly occupied by Mr. Pres-
ton Dyer, and has moved from
McDade to live here. Bastrop
welcomes these substantial cit-
izens who deliberately make
her their choice.
Mr. and Mrs. Johu Waugh
have moved iuto their lovely
uew home ou Main street, and

plauued m the not distant fu-
ture'
A quiet marriage was perpe-
trated at the court house last
-Thursday, Mr. Joe Alexander
and Mrs. Manie Cauuou, of
Cedar Creek, were united in
matrimony, .Judge.!. B. Price
officiating.
The little girls Sewing Club
were eutertaiued by Ruth Craft,
ni the hospitable home of her
parents, Mr. aud Miss Wallace
Craft. The following officers

added enthusiasm to the little
