OFFICER KILLS MEXICAN.
For some time the Mexican* at
the coal mines above town have
been giving the sheriff's depart
ment a considerable amount of
trouble, and on last Monday night
a free for all tight was pulled off
at the John Belto Mines. Deputy
Sheriff A. E. Wynn attempted to
arrest those engaged in the dirti
culty, but only succeeded in ar
resting one F. Alcaro. Soon af
ter starting to town with Alcaro,
the Mexican became unruly and
Deputy Wynn deputized .Jesse
McPhaul to assist him in bring
ing the prisioner to town. As
they reached the railroad cross
ing on Main street the Mexican
struck the officer a heavy blow on
the backof the neck, which for a
time staggered Mr. Wynn. Mc-
Phaul caught hold of the Mexican
who jerked loose and started for
Wynn the second time, when the
officer fired with a forty-five, the
ball entering Alcaro just below
the heart. He was brought to
town and died soon afteawards.
Deputy Wynn surrendered to the
officers upon reachingtown. waiv
ed examination. His bond was
placed at $300.00, which was
promptly given.

ever see such a time before,"
vowing it was the rainest spell

through this some kind of talk

KABU & MCCOLLUM,
At the Airdome Theut re Tues
|d:iy night, for the first time since
liis return from the season's
tour of the southern and western
states, Mr. Price Jenkins favored
a Hastrop audience with a vocal
solo. Ho sang "Where The liiv
er Shannon Flows," and to say
the large crowd was pleased, is
putting it too mildly. He was
heartily encored and responded
by singing the refrain again,
leaving the stage in midst of ap-
plause that demanded yet more.
