Albert Fewcett, which took place
at his home in Smith ville, Wed-
nesday evening, though not un-
expected, fell like a dark pall
over our community, where he
was so well and favorably known
and loved. Messrs. C. K. flay-
nio and 8. S. Sayers vent down
Wednesday to be present at the
funeral ami burial Thursday.

The marriage of Mr. Rush
Thompson and Miss Alta Martin
was solemnized at the residence
of the bride's sister, Mrs. Lula
Hodges, Wednesday evening at
eight o'clock, May 13, 1914, Rev.
Bell, officiating. The wedding
was a quiet, one, only relatives
being present and the announce-
ment came as a surprise to their
many friends. Miss Martin is
one of Hastrop's most i>opular
young women and numbers her
friends by the score, who join
the Advertiser ii wishing her
surpremehappiness. Mr. Thomp-
son has been a resident of Bas-
trop for about two years, and
has been employed at C. Erhard
& Sons drug store and has made
many staunch friends since he
came to live among us, who con-
gratulate him upon his good for-
tune in winning the heart of one
of Bastrop's most beloved daugh-
ters.

Contractor Park's began work
on Dr. Luckett's new residence
Monday.
Just before going to press we
learn of the death of Mrs. .James
Nicholson, which occurred at the
ranch of her brother, Col. Gullett
Her remains will be brought to
Bastrop and interred in Fair-
view, by the side of her deceased
husband, Mr. Jamos Nicholson,
and are expected to reach Bas
trop this Friday night.
Rev. Moers, pastor of the Ger
man Methodist church, is down
from Austin, and will hold
vices in his church.

erie. Mrs. Ward is a sister ol
our Earl Summers. They left
early Sunday morning for their
home at Dale.
Elder Claude L. Jones will be-
gin a meeting at Upton school
house on next Monday night, the
0th inst., and continue for an in-
definite time. Will also preach
at Young's school house each day
at 11 o'clock.
Alf Jung has a pleasant smile
for friend and foe. It's a fat,
bouncing baby girl, born at
o'clock Thursday m o r n i n g.
Mother and babe doing as well
as to be expected, while Alf ;
friends think, with good care, he
will likely survive.
