Mr. W. A. McCord has the
honor of bringing to the office
the first cotton bloom of the sea-
son, bringing it in Friday even-
ing, May 20th, just as our forms
had been put on the press.
Dr. Fowler visited Giddings
Saturday last, for examination
before the Dental Board, and as
was to be expected, came out
with flying colors, and was duly
licensed to practice Dentistry.
His office is over the b.uik.
A Bastrop Wheel Club has been
organized in Bastrop, with the

note the death of Mrs. E. E. Bill
which occured at her farm resi-
dence, in Hill's Prairie, 6 o'clock,
Thursday evening, June 1, 1898.
Mrs. Hill was the widow of the
late Wilie Hill, deceased, and
mother of Mrs. W. C. Powell,
and was in her 7(>th year of age
at the time of her death.
We, the undersigned, mer-

give employees a little recrea-

Again the death angel has
swooped down 011 our quiet and
l>eaceful neighborhood, and this
time it claimed for its victim
Charry F. Roe, the eldest son
of F. M. Roe, who died at his
home Friday evening. The re-
mains were buried at the family
graveyard Saturday.
Rev. B. B. Watts preached to a
crowded house Sunday. His dis-
course waa very instructive.
L. C. Sulivan has been appoin-
ted superintendent of our Sun-
day school.
Mr. James Yarbor and family
of Alum Creek, came up Satur-
day to attend the funeral of Mr.
Frank Roe.
Mr. N"te Nunn has two child-
ren dangerously ill.
Uncle Ned Roe is quite sick.
Mr. Green Allen is tussling
with the fever.
E. McPhaul is layed up with a
carbuncle.
Mrs. India Smith is very sick
Mr. Lee Cottle and wife, of
Cottle Town, were among the
visitors here Sunday.
Rev. H. H. Watts and lady are
