Hearts of the World," which
will be shown at the New Arion
Theatre, Hastrop, Mjuday, Jan.
PJtli, Mi.tinee ami night, is said
tti be more than a great picture
•Hid more a thousand b id than
even the title implies. It is
symbolism—not the story of the
tew characters who appear upon
the screen, but the story of the
.vho'.i• world as it was torn with
grief and anguish through the
heartless, sellLsh greed i t fine
ambitious umn. "All uieans jus
nfy the end," was his creed,
even though the souls of hi* fel
iowmen were trampled under
Toot.
Furthermore, "Hearts of the
World'' is the realization of one
,.f the fondest hopes nf the great
master of the Cinema art, David
VVnrlt Griffith, to photograph the
> ubli/iif passion of life, with a
background worthy of its magni
tude. Though the idea for the
photodrama had long lingered in
nis heart, when the war started
Griffith hesitated to bring it into
being for fear of embroiling his
native land in the awful struggle.
Hjt when the stories of the Hun
brut;iiiti'\s came Vo light he threw
aside all qualms and laid his
plans before Lloyd George,
England's great prime minister.
I inmedi ttely all t'ie resources of
Great Britain and France were
pl'ict 'I at the disposal of the
American producer, because
Lloyd George realized that
"Hearts of the World" would
carry a message to the peoples
of the earth for all time that
would be the embodiment of
truth and realism. No producer
ever before had such cooperation
imI in all probability never will
again.
1 he story opens in the little
village of Noyon, one of the
prettiest and most peac I'ul
spots of France. It is rigiu mere
that our American boys side by
side, with the sons of France
and England, did some of their
hardest fighting. Hut when the
tale of "Hearts of the World'
opens, all is peace and quiet
In one of the quaintest street-*
of the village live the families ol
two American painters who had
made their homes there for art'-.
sake. One had a daughter,
Marie, the prettiest girl of the
village, f id the other had a so'

The Germans first, bombard

episodes of the stage occur.
