runner-up honors in the Texas
state women's basketball cham-
pionships staged in Sarr Antonio
over the post weekend. Dr. Pep-
p e r of Dallas oust-
ed the locals for the title
the Texas Amateur Athletic Fed-
eration, of which the Orange Re-
creation Commission is a member.
To reach the finals, the Desettes

I ces' Rice and Joyce Walker. The
Wagstall sisters and Reese shone
at forwards and were aidecf in
point making by the shaiyshoot-
ing of Miller and Herring. Guards
Rice, Walker and Hebert also
turned In fine performances to es-
tablish Orange as the basketball
map cf the state. The trip to San
Antonio was financed by the City
; of Orange, the Lions Club and
the Riverside Association.
