Jofmie B. Beasley was Born August 26, 1910 in (Yoakum, (Texas, to
'Willie and Carrie Johnson.
She was a graduate of AsBerry High ScfiooC and studied Music under
91. Jamison of (yoakum, Texas.
Sit a young age, she united with the St. James A.M.E. Church of
yoatqpn, Texas. She moved to San Antonio, (Texas and united with
grant Memorial AM.E. Church untiC OipvemBer of 1991. She then
joined the greater Ball Tabernacle A.M/E. Church in 9{ovemBer, 1991
where she served on the Steward (Board until her heaCth Began to faif.
She served as Local Missionary (President while a memBer at grant
Memorial A.M.E. Church. She had Been Urea 1 Missionary
Chairperson for the Corpus Christi Urea from 1969-1973 and then as
Southwest Texas Conference Missionary (president from 1974-1983.
She also served as pianist for the Missionary Society and for grant
Memorial. She Became a Life MemBer in the Missionary Society in
March, 1989. She was a TraifhCazer in the Lay Organization of the
Southwest Texas Conference. She was a person who worthed in ad
capacities in the church, focafly, Conference and (District. (Wherever
she was needed, she served.
She Was affectionately known as (Mama (Beasley" to all of her
(((young-ins." She had no children of her own, But she had a numBer of
adopted ones.
She leaves to mourn, cousin, James (Beverly of Austin, TX; Sir dell
(Richardson of Aura, CO, Maurice Shropshire of Compton, CA; lHazel
Lowen of San Syntonic, TX; 'JierBert Lacy of Corpus Christi, TX;
(Dcmnie Lewis of Austin, TX; special friends, geraldine Smelder and
Marion godley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
