Pfc. Floyd Broadnax Jr. was the first born to Floyd Sr.
and Georgia Mae Broadnax on December 24, 1940 in Seguin,
Texas. He attended the public schools there in his early life.
While he was still attending public school his parents moved to
San Antonio where he finished the remainder of his school
years. He entered Prairie View A. & M. College September
1959.
On October 2, 1961 he was married to Douglas Mae Camp-
bell. He departed from San Antonio October 5, 1961 to
become a member of the United States Army, taking his basic
training at Fort Carson, Colorado. While in basic training he
won two medals for good conduct and expert shooting. After
basic training was finished, he was sent to Fort McClellan,
Alabama for Chemical training; Fort Benning, Georgia for
Para-trooper training; Fort Campbell, Kentucky for Infantry
training and later transfered to 265th Chemical Battalion, Fort
Campbell, Kentucky.
He professed Christ at a very early age. After moving to
San Antonio, he became an active youth in St. Paul Methodist
Church. He remained a faithful member until he entered the
U. S. Army where he attended Chapel services regularly.
Pfc. Broadnax departed this life Wednesday, June 27th at
3:45 P. M. He is survived by his wife, Douglas Mae Broadnax,
father, Mr. Floyd Broadnax Sr; mother, Mrs. Georgia Mae
Broadnax; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ann Wilson, Shirley Ann
Broadnax; a brother, Charles Samuel Broadnax;two brothers-in
law, A-2c Finis Wilson, Kinnon Eitel Campbell; a father-in
law, Douglas Campbell; a mother-in-law, Mrs. Ida Mae King,
two sisters-in-law Beverly Jean Campbell and Leona Isabell
Campbell and a host of relatives and friends.
