Life Reflection
Mildred Vera Blackson, the third child of Shellie and Pinkie
Blackson was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 4, 1921.
She was educated in the San Antonio Public Schools, attending
Brackenridge Elementary, Douglas School and graduated from
Phillis Wheatley in 1938.
At the age of 11, Mildred accepted Christ, she was baptized by
the Late Rev. I. H. Kelly at Second Baptist Church where she re-
mained until 1953. In January 1952 she was united in marriage to
Mr. John H. Diggs who preceded her in death. In 1953 they
moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where they continued their Chris-
tian ministries. In 1985 they returned to San Antonio, Texas and
reunited with Second Baptist Church.
Mildred was a true servant of God. She was dedicated to all the
ministries she was involved in. She was an active member of the
Esther Circle of the Women's Missionary Union, Citywide Good-
will Missionary Council, Sunday School Secretary Class #4-5,
and Senior Transportation Chairperson. She enjoyed making ar-
rangements for the members. She served this ministry until April
11, 2011, the day she lost her sight. She was passionate about
everything she did.
Mildred will be most remembered for her joyful spirit, beautiful
smile and of course she loved to talk.
Mildred is survived by her loving niece Jacquelyn Jordan, grand-
niece Cheryl Bradley, extended family and a host of friends.
