(jeorgeand Clara (} riff in,'June 27,1915, in San Antonio, 'Te\as. Ifler
parents and txvo siblings preceded her in death
She attended the pubfic schools graduating from 'Chillis 'Wheat (eij
-High School in 1934. She also attended the 'Boivden Scfioof 'for Cjirfs
which later became St. Tfiilip's College.
'Willie accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour at an early age
using her (jodgiven talents of playing piano at 'East St. Taul
•Methodist Church and singing in the choir, where she grezv up and
was under the pastorship of the late 'Rev. J. J l Carruthers. Later she
and her family joined Jacob Chapel '.Methodist Church where she
remained a faithful member for many years.
On 'february 14,1945, she united in holy matrimony with Mose
young, Jr. who preceded her in death after thirty-seven loving years
oj marriage and to this union one child was born.
In 19S5, she joined Corinth 'Baptist Church to be with her family
but due to illness she was unable to attend very often under the
leadership of her cousin, 'Rev. D. J. Winters. She was led to notify
'Pastor Archieldso that she might again become a part of the family
oj Christ with her children but again attend service often but she
loved her pastor, zvife and sons along with her caring church family
she'd tqiown and met.
Sister young was employed at the 9{i\'J-(ospita(for t wenty five
years receiving higher education andaccomendation certificates. In
1970, she moved with most of the higher administra tioti upon request
to supervise her department at the then newly built Northeast
'Baptist hospital where she remained until her heath restricted her
performance and she retired in 1977
She was active in the civic and social community organizations
devoting many hours, financing and items to the Scott 'Davis yMCA
for the'youthTrograms. Serving with theyMCATarent Association
from 1978-80 and sharing her time and love with all the children she
came in contact and they affectionately called her "9{ana". She was
a member of St. Cecilia Court, Cjrand Court Order of Calanthe.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Cynthia R. Miller; one
grandson, and his ivife, 'Donned(Donny) and Chenea 'Miller; two
great grandchildren, 'Donned ('Trey) and Chakesia ('Re/^e); brother,
Clifton Cjriffin,Sr.; nephew/son, Charles 'B. Shannon; nephews,
Clifton (j riff in, Jr.; stepdaughter, 'Mrs. Marjorie 9{ellTarrish and
husband, Charles ofLas Vegas, 9{ev.; a hostof"loveadoptedchildren
andgrandchildren,"family members andfriends; a favorite cousin,
'Rev. Christopher Cjriffin; very specialfriend, Mrs. Alice Moody,
Alice 'Washington, Christovede Cunningham, 'Hermina Scott, Alnita
Jones, and Martha'Williams and a loving son in law, Sidney Miller,
Jr.
My China (Doff
Many times over the years I have looted at you as the China
'Doll that I had to tangoed care of, but not ever forgetting the
many days and nights you sat up with me, and mine, to comfort
a b t o foil heart, or sooth an unrestjulspirit, you were therefor
it all, you played a role in my life that no one else could everfill.
'Mien things went well with me, you were happy with me,
when the road loof^ long, somehow you helped mafo it loof^
shorter, when I could not find tfiat little light at the end of the
tunnel you directed myfaith tofind it in the mist of the storms
which arrises in my life.
yes, you were my little China 'Doll because the time came for
me to therefor you. 'To do all I could to protect you, cherish you,
and care for you in the best way I could (I hope I didn't fail
you.) As long as the river flows you will hold an ever lasting
place in my heart, you will always be my China 'Doll, but now
J must letgo and let Ljodplace you in your permanent home in
the 'Heavens with 'J-lim where I foiow in my heart you could be
in no better care. 'But your precious memories will live in my
heart always.
