Stelera Broadband
connecting rural
America
SteleraBroadband is committed to providing rural
America with the latest and most advanced technology
that provides the fastest broadband services available.
Stelera is the fastest wireless Internet access without the
use of phone lines, a cable connection or the need for
public Wi-Fi hot spots. Stelera's next generation wire-
less network also works outside the city limits, extend-
ing several miles from each cell site offering high-speed
Internet service to many rural homes and businesses
located outside of town.
"Stelera was the first company in the nation to intro-
duce next generation broadband technology called
iHSPA (Internet High Speed Packet Access)," said Ed
Evans, CEO of Stelera Broadband. "We are unique in
that we are deploying a wireless network that is purely
focused on broadband services."
"All you have to do is 'plug and play,'" said Tim Duffy,
Chief Technology Officer of Stelera Broadband. "You can
walk out of the store today, go home, plug in the modem
and attach it to your computer with either a cable or
wirelessly through a built in Wi-Fi router. The Stelera
router allows multiple computers to connect throughout
your home or office simultaneously. Customers only
have to wait a few minutes and they are connected to the
internet. It is a simple technology that customers can
install themselves without antennas or telephone lines.
Our Service is simple, reliable and affordable."
Lance Holt is our local Stelera Market Manager. Lance
was born and lives in Lamesa, TX. He is very excited to
see this technology reach out to the rural Texas com-
munities. With Stelera you are not only receiving a
reliable product, you will also receive excellent customer
service. "Customer service is key with Stelera. When you
call into customer service you will talk to a person not
a machine" said Holt. "We have a very strong commit-
ment to our rural communities."
Stelerais currently offering promotional pricing for
those who purchase their service from now until January
31, 2010. The price for the first three months is $24.95
per month and a $9.95 fee to lease the router with a one-
time $50 activation fee.

Classes, homework
across 12 states.
Not a typical day for a 17-year-old,
but Jazzy Jordan isn't your ordinary
teenager.
For the past two years, she has been
training with a retired coach from
Ukraine in hopes of competing in the
2012 Olympics. Her training did not
stop — it just shifted gears.
"I decided that I wanted to do this
the day after I saw her (Sheila Grothe),"
Jazzy said. "I went to lunch with my
coach and decided I wanted to train for
longer distances."
Her decision to trek across the United
States came after seeing a family friend,
Sheila Grothe, succumb to cancer after a
year and a half.
"She was 38 years old, has two kids
and a husband," Jazzy said. "She was a
pilot car driver with my mom."
Seeing her a couple days before she
passed away, Jazzy said it was the hard-
est thing she's ever had to face.
According to Jazzy, more than 70 per-
cent of truck drivers have non-adequate
or no medical insurance.
Grothe's family is having to not only
deal with the loss of a loved one, but a
large amount of medical bills.
"They (truck drivers) deserve some-
thing for what they do everyday," Jazzy
Texas receives more than
$124 million for emergency
food and shelter programs
Area counties included in
federal funding
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal
Emergency Management Agency announced that more
than $12.4 million has been awarded to Texas non-profit
agencies and others by the Emergency Food and Shelter
Program (EFSP). Federal funds totaling $200 million
were made available to the EFSP for Fiscal Year 2010
to bring immediate relief to communities to address
unemployment, poverty and other needs in light of the
economic climate faced by our country.
The EFSP is administered by a National Board of vol-
untary agencies chaired by FEMA. The National Board
qualifies local jurisdictions for annual EFSP awards
based on criteria involving current population, unem-
ployment. and poverty levels. Local Boards, convened in
the qualifying jurisdictions, decide which nonprofit and
government agencies are to receive the awarded funds,
and funds are then disbursed directly to the agencies by
the National Board.
EFSP funds were first authorized by Congress in 1983
and are appropriated annually under the McKinney-
Vento Homeless Assistance Act. With the FY 2010 allo-
cation, more than $3.6 billion in federal aid will have

said. "They are the ones that make the
world move."
After Jazzy initially presented the idea
to her family, it only took about an hour
to decide they were going to do it and
planning started.
"Jazzy has always wanted to make a
difference," Lee Jordan, Jazzy's father,
said. "It didn't surprise me that she
wanted to do this."
After five months of planning, .Jazzy
and her dad started their journey, on
Sept. 1, 2009. Since then she has trav-
eled across California, Arizona, New
Mexico, and is in the process of making
her way through Texas. She plans to end
in New York City at Times Square.
The goal is to end on April 17, the
anniversary of Grothe's death, but due
to some complications along the way,
the deadline may not be reached.
While running through New Mexico,
she received a hair-line fracture to her
left foot. Due to her injury, she was out
for six-weeks. On Dec. 1, she started
running again.
"Each day is definitely a new learning
experience," Lee said. "I'm her dad, I
worry about people driving while tex-
ting and other things, but I'm proud of
her."
Despite the changing weather and
challenges that she has faced along the
way, Jazzy has found the motivation to
