The Sweetwater Fire Department responded to a fire on Musgrove Street on Tuesday. A storage unit, owned by
a private owner, caught fire and sent flames and smoke high into the air, also causing a grass fire a block away
on Neff Street. Due to a downed power line that was still "hot" firefighters had to use their ladder truck to extin-
guish the storage unit fire. The storage unit was near Pickrell Wrecker Service and the business sustained only
minor damages. Everything that was in the storage unit — including a vehicle and a recreational vehicle — was
destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. According to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant
Madden, a firefighter was "overcome from the heat" and was taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. He
was treated and released.
