Sweetwater Christian School
Sweetwater Christian School will have
their annual Spring program at 6:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, May 3, in the fellowship hall of
First United Methodist Church. The public
is invited to attend.
SHS Scholarship Assembly
Sweetwater High School will host the
annual senior scholarship assembly on
Tuesday, May 3 at 9:45 a.m. in the high
school auditorium. Parents and community
members are invited to attend. During this
assembly, senior scholarship winners will
be announced and recognized by many
local organizations and clubs.
Let's Talk Books
Let's Talk Books, the book club of the
County-City Library, will meet at noon on
Tuesday, May 3, in the meeting room. The
book selection is Shanghai Girls by Lisa
See. Sack lunches will be provided for the
first 12 people for a $4 donation. Call 235-

Diabetes Outreach
The Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital
Diabetes Outreach program will be hav-
ing a support group meeting at 2 p.m. on
Tuesday, May 3, in the conference room
(front entrance of hospital). Those attend-
ing will be exchanging recipes.
Free Workshop
The Texas Tech Small Business
Development Center will conduct a free
workshop on Web Marketing. This work-
shop wil provide an understanding of how
social media on the internet can help mar-
ket your business in these fast changing
times. This workshop is Tuesday^ May 3,
from 4-6 p.m. The workshop will include
presentation and discussion time. The
workshop will take place in the Texas Tech
Conference room located on the 6th floor
of the Enterprise Building, 500 Chestnut.

Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class at the
County-City Library will not meet on
Wednesday, May 4. Class will resume on
Wednesday, May 11.
Chamber Coffee
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce
will hold a special volunteer coffee event
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, at the
Pioneer Museum.
Roscoe Brown Bag
Roscoe will have its Brown Bag distribu-
tion from 3:30-5 p.m. on Wednesday, May
4, 2011, at Roscoe First United Methodist
Church.
Thursday, May 5
Cinco De Mayo
On Thursday, May 5, Roscoe resident
Aida Pantoja will perform Mexican dancing
at two area senior citizen facilities. She will
be at Nolan Nursing and Rehab at 9 a.m.,
followed by an appearance at Sweetwater
Healthcare Center at 10:30 a.m. Pantoja
will also be performing on Saturday, May
7 at the Cinco de Mayo celebration in
Roscoe along with other dancers from the
local Catholic church, in con] unction with
other events planned throughout the day.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Roscoe,
a parade line up will take place at the AUP
building. All floats are welcomed to par-
ticipate in the parade, which will begin at 11
a.m., concluding at the Roscoe Community
Center. Vendors will be on hand for the
Cinco de Mayo celebration and are welcome
to participate free of charge during the day.
The event will wrap up with a dance in
downtown Roscoe from 6-10 p.m. with
entertainment provided by Tropicalisimo
Fantasia. For more information on the
Roscoe Cinco de Mayo gathering, please
contact Aida Pantoja at 721-1568.
Cinco De Mayo Dinner
The students of Roscoe Collegiate High
School will be hosting a Mexican-Pile on
dinner at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011,
in the school cafeteria. The proceeds from
this dinner will be for senior scholarships,
so we ask that you come out and support
the dinner. Students will be performing
dances of the Mexican tradition as well as
speaking in Spanish.
National Day of Prayer
In honor of the National Day of Prayer,
the Ministerial Alliance is hosting a 12
hour prayer vigil at the Sweetwater Prayer
Center at 1418 Hailey Street. The com-
munity is invited to join any time from 7
a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. Prayer
stations will be set up following the 7X7
prayer model providing opportunities to
pray for government, education, church,
family, media, business and military.
Rolling Plains TRTA
The Rolling Plains TRTA will have their
regular monthly meeting on Thursday, May
5, at the Sweetwater Country Club. The
meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a meal
and will include a program and business
meeting.
Story Hour
Story Hour at the County-City Library
or parents and their children will be held
at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 5. Library
staff will lead the parents and children in
stories and songs. Call 235-4978 for more

Friday, May 6
Relay Bake Sale
Roscoe State Bank will have a bake sale
beginning at 8 a.m. and ending when they
are sold out on Friday, May 6. They will also
be having cook books made by the employ-
ees of Roscoe State Bank and chances for
a gift basket filled with items donated by
numerous merchants. The drawing will be
held at 5 p.m. on Friday for the gift: basket,
in time for Mother's Day on May 8. All pro-
ceeds will benefit the Relay For Life cancer
walk on June 3.
Saturday, May 7
Benefit Dance
A benefit dance will be held for Danny
Maldonado from 8 p.m. to midnight on
Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Knights of
Columbus Hall. Cost will be $10 per person
or S15 per couple. Entertainment will be
provided by Tommy O. and the All Star Jam
Band, Thoze Guyz with special appearances
by Angelique and Rick Molina of .ubbock.
Brisket Sandwich Sale
First Financial Bank will have a brisket
sandwich sale at Brookshire's on Saturday^
May 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will
go towards Relay For Life.
