Migrant Meeting
Parents of sti lents who are enrolled in
the Sweetwater ISD Migrant Program are
invited to a Parent Advisory meeting being
held at the SISD Administration Building
on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 4 p.m. All
schools who participate in this program
will be represented. Refreshments will be
served and child care will be provided for

Volleybs fundraiser
Volleyball girls will be working at Pizza
Hut from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 to
raise money for summer camps. Tickets
will be sold for $8 for adults and $4 for chil-
dren Contact any varsity volleyball player

Free Workshop
The Texas Tech Small Business
Development Center will conduct a free
workshop on Finding Money to Start a
Business. This workshop provide an
understanding of the sources of capital
and how to develop a strategy of obtaining
capital for your business. This workshop
is Tuesday May 24 , from 4-6 p.m. The
workshop will take place in the Texas Tech
Conference room located on the 6th floor
of the Enterprise Building, 500 Chestnut.
Seating is limited for this free workshop so

Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at the
County-City Library. Instructors will help
yoi learn to read, improve your reading
skills, improve your English skills or help

Stoiy Hour at the County-City Library
for parents and their children wil be held
at 10:45 a-m- on Thursday, May 26. Library
staff will lead the parents and children in

WASP Homecoming
The Annual WASP Homecoming will be
held on Saturday, Ma 28, 2011, at Avenger
Field in Sweetwater. The Boeing Stearman
PT-17 is one of the primary trainers actually
flown in training by the WASP at Avenger
Field in 1943 and 1944, and it is return-
ing to Avenger Field for the Annual WASP
Homecoming at the National WASP WWII
Museum. T sre will also be at least 20
WASP, many of whom likely flew PT-17 No.
12 in training. Daylong Museum activities
will include free airplane rides sponsored
by Abilene EAA Chapter 471 for kids ages
8 through 17, a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at
TSTC with speaker WASP Bee Haydu, an
evening gala and dinner with 40s era big
band dance at 7 p.m. and much more. For

Memorial Day Service
The annual Nolan-Divide Memorial
Day service will be held at 11 a.m. on
Sunday, May 29, 2011, at the Nolan-Divide
Community Center. The speaker for the ser-
vice will be Dale Finch with special music
by Jessica Morrow. Immediately after the
service, lunch will be catered. Everyone is
encouraged to attend.
Softball Fundraiser
West Texas Threat Fastpitch Softball will
host a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on
Sunday, May 29, at La Cocina Restaurant.
Enchilada dinners (includes beans, rice,
drink, and dessert) will be served. Dine
in or cany out. Proceeds benefit the West
Texas Threat 10 and under Softball team
as they travel to Oklahoma and compete in
the Triple Crown Tournament. For infor-

School Make-Up Day
Monday, May 30 will be a regular school
day at Sweetwater Independent School
District. The day will be used as a make-
1 day for the bad weather days used in
February.
Tuesday, May 31
Ribbon Cut ting
The Sweetwater Chamber c: Commerce
will host a ribbon cutting for EMA
Electromechanics, Inc. at 11 a.m. on
Tuesday, May 31, at the business, located at
16 Industrial Drive.
Sunday, June 5
Home and Outdoor Living Tour
The Sweetwater Woman's Forum will
host the first Home and Outdoor Living
Area Tom- from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, June
5. Four outdoor living areas on Vista Court
will be featured including the home of Marty
and Lori Foust at 3 Vista Court, the home of
Jerry and Linda Reves at 7 Vista Court, the
home of B.J. and Wendy Smartt at 9 Vista
Court and the home of Scott and Carla
Morgan at 12 Vista Court, as well as the
home of C.D. Boyd at 1600 Morris, which
will be the only home interior featured on
the torn-. Free bottled water will be distrib-
uted on-site. Tickets are $10 each and can
be purchased at the Sweetwater Chamber
of Commerce, Bennett and Associates, on-
site at the tour and from Woman's Forum
members.
Monday, June 6
Lady Mustang Basketball Camp
Lady Mustang Basketball Camp will
be held from 9-11:30 a.m. each day from
Monday, June 6, to Thursday, June 9, 2011,
at the Sweetwater Middle School Gym,
located at 305 Lamar Street. Camp fee is
$35 and girls will be able to improve their
Skills in basketball through instruction in
individual skills and team competitions.
The camp is for grades first through sev-
enth based on the 2010-2011 school year.
Pre-registration is appreciated and a con-
cession stand will be available.
Mustang Basketball Camp
The 2011 Mustang Basketball Camp will
be held Monday through Thursday, June
6-9, at Sweetwater High School with two
sessions. Students completing grades 3-5
will attend from 9-11 a.m. each day, while
students who are completing grades 6-8
will attend from 1-3 p.m. A camp fee is $30,
and campers must sign a release form and
show proof of insurance. All participants
in the camp will receive a T-shirt and bas-
ketball. Water will be provided, but each
camper may bring a sports drink if they
choose to do so. The registration deadline
will be Tuesday, May 31.
Tuesday, June 7
Mini Mustang Cheer Camp
Cancelled
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the
Mini Mustang Cheer Camp scheduled for
Tuesday, June 7 through Friday, June 10
has been cancelled. Though the camp has
been called off this year the annual sum-
mer event is set to take place next summer.
For those who had previously signed up
and paid the $35 for the cheer camp, please
contact the Sweetwater High Schoo SHS)
office at 325-325-4371 for refunds.
Friday, June 10
Chamber Luncheon
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce
will have their annual appreciation lun-
cheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday,
June 10, 2011, at Texas State Technical
College. There is no charge for chamber
members. RSVP by June 1, to 235-5488.
Softball Tournament
The Sweetwater Slow-Pitch Softball
Association vill be hosting a men's and
co-ed Softball tournament on Friday, June
10 and Saturday,, June 11. They will also be
starting a summer league on Monday, June
20. All are invited to participate. For more

Saturday, June 11
LSBC Vacation Bible School
Lamar Street Baptist Church will have
Vacation Bible School on June 12-16 each
evening from 6-8:3( p.m.; the theme is
"Hometown Nazareth". There will be early
registration at the Sweetwater Pool from
11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11
to register children Pre-K through sixth
grades for VBS. Come let your eh 1 take a
swim while you register them. If you have

Open Bass Tournament
The second annual Open Bass
Tournament at Lake Sweetwater will take
place from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.
on Saturday, June 11. Entiy fee is $25 with
Calcutta $10 and IOO percent payback plus
donations from local merchants. Number
of awarded places depends on the number
of donations and entries. Last year, nine
places were paid. The tournament is in
memory of Bo Bodine,
Monday, June 13
Trinity Baptist VBS
Trinity Baptist Church will be holding
their ication Bible School, Big Apple
Adventure, from June 13-15. Times are
1-4 p.m. daily, with early registration at
noon on Monday, June 13. There will be
lots of fun, crafts, games and Bible study
during this time, A special treat is planned
for the final day (Wednesday) The church
will have a water slide and hot dogs as well
as parents' night. Big Apple Adventure
is offered for Kindergarten through
Grade 4 age groups. In addition, Trinity
offers VBX for fifth and sixth graders this
year. Transportation and pre-registration
can be arranged by calling the c urch at
235-2991. The church is located at the cor-
ner of Hailey and Santa Fe Streets.
Monday, June 20
Mustang Tennis Clinic
A Mustang tennis clinic will be held
from 8-11 a.m. Monday, June 20 through
Thursday, June 23, at the Sweetwater High
School tennis courts for students in grades
third through eighth. Costis $35. Equipment
needed is a tennis racquet, water bo1 e and
sunscreen. For more information, contact

Friday, June 24
Tennis Event
Sweetwater will host a Black Gold Tennis
Circuit Challenger event on June 24-25.
Entiy fee is $25. Players may enter up to
two events, including one singles and one
doubles, Entries must be in the hands
of tournament director Sheila Arnwine at
least seven days before the tournament
begins. Events will be held in boys and girls
singles, boys and girls doubles and mixed
doubles. More information on the tourna-

Saturday, June 25
Kids Fishing Tournament
The second annual Kids Fishing
Tournament at Lake Sweetwater will take
place from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25.
There will be four ages groups ranging from
ages 3-16. Each group will have winners for
big fish, small fish and most outstanding
angler. Awards will be presented at 11 a.m.
Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided
for competitors during awards. Entiy fee
is $5-
Monday Aug. 1
Volleyball Camp
Volleyball Camp will begin Monday, Aug.
1, for girls in grades third through seventh
based on the 2010-2011 school year, at the
Sweetwater Middle School Gym, located
