Like puzzles?
Then you'll love sudoku. This miiid-bend-
iiig puzzle will have you hooked from the
moment you square off, so sharpen your
pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the
test!
Here's How It Works:
Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9
grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes.
To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through
9 must fill each row, column and box.
Each number can appear only once in
each row, column and box. You can fig-
ure out the order in which the numbers
will appear by using the numeric clues
already provided in the boxes. The more
numbers you name, the easier it gets to
solve the puzzle!

Horoscopes By Holiday
FOR THURSDAY,
SEPTEMBER 1, 2011
The song says that "one
is the loneliest number,"
though many disagree. One
is, however, the most indi-
vidualistic number, and a
certain assertive spirit goes
along with the numerol-
ogy. On this first day of the
month, fortune falls to those
who act on their indepen-
dent urges. The hard work
won't seem as laborious
because the goal is in sight.
ARIES (March 21-April
19). Beauty captures your
attention, especially when
it's unexpected. You will be
drawn in by a person's ele-
gance. The sparkling laugh
and dancing eyes make their
way straight to your heart.
TAURUS (April 20-May
20). Your interest may be
impractical, and that is part
of the appeal. Claim your
right to your own wonderful
nonsense. You don't love a
hobby because it is useful. It
is useful because you love it.
GEMINI (May 21-June
21). Your unique spirit
shines through today. You
won't show your feelings in
the way everyone else does.
You'll give a special kind of
love, and it will take a special
kind of heart to receive it.
CANCER (June 22-July
22). Dietary changes are
on the horizon for you.
Preparing your own meals
puts you in touch with what
s in them. You'll take a break
from fast food and frozen
food in order to be hands on
with the raw ingredients in
your food.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22).
Getting too used to having
someone to look out for you
could cause you to become
lax about looking out for
yourself. Take a solo journey
to fortify your self-reliance.
You don't want to go soft!
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept.
22). It is said that the
squeaky wheel always gets
the grease. What goes with-
out mention is that it also
gets cursed and kicked. If it's
necessary to annoy people,
be very careful in your meth-
ods.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23).
You can furnish a lot of your
own personal self-care with-
out help. You've even been
known to cut your own hair.
But if you can treat yourself
to a little help, it will be an
excellent treat.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov.
21). You're not exactly
schooled in the ways of
magic, and yet your knowl-
edge makes you a magi-
cian in someone else's eyes.
Instead of deflecting the
praise and amazement you
receive, soak it up!
SAGITTARIUS (Nov.
22-Dec. 21). Sometimes you
wonder whether you will
make a difference in the
world. You already have.
And these days, your influ-
ence is even greater than
you realize. Keep the faith.
CAPRICORN (Dec.
22-Jan. 19). "Live and let
live" is your policy. Because
you are able to tolerate the
; lea that people have beliefs
that are different from yours,
you will make friends and do
business on a larger scale.
AQUARIUS (Jan.
20-Feb. 18). You will speak
accurately with great com-
passion and convey a posi-
tive, uplifting feeling. The
reason you are able to do
this is because you really
believe in what you are sell-
ing.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March
20). You will feel guided to
act. The guidance may come
from a teacher or a book, or
even a person with whom
you do not have a personal
relationship but who none-
theless inspires you from
afar.
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY
(Sept. 1). Love fulfills you
in delightful, unplanned
ways. You'll demonstrate
your knowledge and will be
chosen for a special position.
The next 10 weeks bring suc-
cessful efforts in higher edu-
cation and advanced train-
ing. In November, new fans
will appreciate your sense
of humor and entertain-
ing qualities. Cancer and
Scorpio people adore you.
Your lucky numbers are: 40,
7, 25, 41 and 11.
ASTROLOGICAL
QUESTIONS: "I 'm a Leo,
and I just enrolled in a new
school year. The counsel-
or in my department told
me which classes I needed
to take. They all sounded
lame to me. I want to be
an actor, so I decided to fill
up my schedule with acting
and dancing classes and one
voice class. Now I feel like
I'm getting away with some-
thing. My mom keeps asking
me which math or science
class I'm in. I'm 19 years
old, I don't live at home,
and I'm working my way
through school. My parents
aren't paying for it, so do
they really have a right to
comment on my choice of
classes?
If they're not paying for
your schooling, I see no rea-
son why you have to report
to them about your class
load, except that they are
still your parents and might
have an opinion you would
value. As you follow your
Leo affinity for the spotlight,
consider that a broad base of
knowledge and experience
may enhance your ability
to act and not detract from
it. Actors such as Natalie
Portman, who majored in
psychology, and Ashton
Kutcher, who was a bio-
chemical engineering stu-
dent, might concur!
