lor new jail
BY BELINDA SERRANO
Staff Writer
In a three-to-one vote, the burn ban in Nolan
County was reinstated for the next two weeks during
the county commissioners' meeting on Monday morn-
ing, April 23, 2012 at the Nolan County Courthouse.
The burn ban was just one of several action items
presented at the meeting. Approval was also given
on the architect's plan for the sheriffs office and jail
pending the overall costs of the project.
In addition, an agreement with ES&S to replace
four automarks voting machines — that were ruined
by a water leak — was approved by the commission-
ers, totaling around $20,000 for the machines plus
annual maintenance fees. There is a chance that the
machines may not arrive in time for the May 12 elec-
tion; however, enough machines are currently avail-
able to meet the needs of the upcoming election.
Approval was also given to use the county clerk's
records management funds towards the digital rec-
reation of criminal case folders. The process began
around two years ago, and money from the records
management and reserve funds will be used to pay for
the files to be scanned.
Furthermore, the advertisement for bids for the
