SEA DREAMS.
I wish | ♦ere a seaman
A'sail a starlit bay,
Where the warm sweet breath
Of a Southern wind
Hurries me oil my way.
1 wish the mystic shallop
That drifts the Southern sea.
With Jts treasure dear
To the ocean's depth.
Floating along with me. >
I wish I ruled the waters.
A chieftain brave and bold.
With a fighting crew-
All mittl to act
When my command is told.
Then I'd rule the waters
With a stern and ruthless hand;*
With wind and wave
And man to slave
And cringe at my command.
clean white toga. The higher Caesar
climbed, the higher rose his anger.
By the time lie reached the university
he resembled the greasy red cheese he
had eaten for breakfast.
Approaching a Greek who was de-
livering: a lecture on javelin-throwing,
Caesar mentioned several of the more
powerful gods in emphatic tones. The
Greek shuddered and began talking in
a soft, apologetic voice. Evidently he
j was it convincing speaker, for Caesar's
| severe countenance softened visibly.
Thut evening just before dinner, Cal-
pur ma paused in choosing between a
purple and an orange scarf for her
hair and dulled to Caesar, who lay in a
perfumed bath in the adjoining room.
"I hope you're feeling cooler by now.
Caesar. I wish you'd try to control
your temper, at least in public. I've
never been so mortified in my life as
I was when you went charging up that
hill like a white and purple sacrifice
bull—"
"Woman!" came sharply from the
aromatic depths of the tiled hath'.
"Hold your tongue."
Calpurnia adjusted a wreath of red
flowers upon her head and was silent.
"Do you know what those young
asses up there at the university did'.'
They organized a new society and nam-
ed it. tor Mark Antony instead of for
me. That gibbering Greek said he'd
make them change it, though."
"And the name now is—" said Cal-
purnia tactfully, powdering her knees.
"Toe Julius Caesar Suicide Society."
