Case No. 1
The cynic comes out in your rei>ort-

make an apology, to wit:
Once upon a column, we saUl the
baseball team could not make any

were momentarily flabbci gastrulated
until we cogitated a bit on the price
of the eauipnient. The twelve sithci-
leoiis. just about pays for a half dozen
hoi srhide covered bits of twine that

make admission charges to the Girl's
Tennis Tournament. Personally, we'd
much prefer to sit in the shade of the
ever shading opk trees and watch the
delicate bits of femininity chase things
about the tennis terraces than watch
the batting bulls bang out the high-
sounding triples.
Look over this list: of deloctables
and promulgate the person over to the
Tennis Court Monday for the beauty
contest. The entrants are: Helen Put-

Alice Cooper, Gladys Marie Deering,
Sarah Katherine Evans, Elizabeth
Ploeter, Katherine Foote, Mary
Louise Foote, Floy King, Mary Jane
McGuffcy, Geraldine Marooney, Mary
Marshall Matthews, Frances Merrill,
Mary Jane Small, and Mary Alice

named Mary? There are six on the
list, count 'em. We knew you would,
The other girls must feel like a bache-
lor at a family reunion. Nonetheless,

Glad to see John Helton playing
ball with the boys. Looks mighty
good on second basi?.
And Brother Types is hitting the
ball, as is Steen. Steen by the way has
had a little trouble with his fielding,
but the big bat can make up for a
multitude of sins.
Get -4? gander at the goshawful
names chosen by the Dorm fellows
Indoor team: South Hall Scorpions,
East Hall Turtle Doves, West Hall
Violets—shrinking eh what?
And our pal Wolcott, whose name
by the way, is not Alexander, was
much embarrassed and a bit battered
when he, practically: demolished the
next to the last hurdle in his exhibi-
tion on Saturday last. It now comes
to our one good ear that Brunson is
having Wolcott practice with the
hurdles turned the tough way. The ace
doesn't dare hit the wood, and the

Meet in SoftbaJJ

The South Hall Scorpions, playing
behind the brilliant pitching of Walt
Williams and Levi Craddock, out*
classed .the East Hall Turtle Doves
3-2 last Sunday afternoon.
The highlights of the game were
the slugging of Billy Ard and "Pop-
eye" Haner, plus the fielding of
"Watermock" Price. The game was
played at Lovett Lake (in front of
South Hall, for the benefit of those
not in the know) before a capacity
crowd.
"Butterball" Ard put the Scorpions
into the lead at the start with a well-
socked home run. The home team
maintained the one run margin and

"Jess Hines' West Hall Violets will
be next," say the tri-managers Ard,
Price and William# of tlje Scorpions.
But Jess doesn't think so. ,!He says
that he can spot the Scorpions ten
runs in the first inning and over-take
them before the fifth.
Williams will start on the mound
for the Scorpions next Sunday, and
Cooks will # the haling for th<$
Violets. The game will determine the
Champions of the Campus, so it is
rumored from unreliable sources.
