championship at Forest Hills, Frank Guernsey set about Collect-
ing his recquets for the long jaunt south to the Institute. Be-
hind the tiny racqueteer were weeks of unending sun, volleys,
and placements during which he successfully defended an in-
tercollegiate singles title and strengthened his claim to higher
national ranking against the
best in the game.
Guernsey passed up thy state rauet
at Dallas this year only to relin-
quish his crown to Hobby Curtis.

: The intercollegiate king' moved into
the quarter-finals against l)iek Me-
Kee, advancing 1-0, 8-0 after tlie
