Prom Van, Texas, "flowur pot of
the universe, county Beat of the
world," comes Levi Cratldock, who
started life in that eity twenty-two
years ago. C'n|(ldoqk, six feet, two
inches and 1S10 pounds of basketball
machinery, began his Career under
Bus Brannon at the Van High School,
Braniiou coached Levi in football,
too, and1 tells a good Story which
Craddoek has it job denying at the
Field House,.
When Craddoek played football, he
was a quarterback. There was another
iiuarturback on the team who annoy-
ed Bus not a little bit by forever
running the ball four times without
punting on the fourth down, consist-
ently losing yards by not doing' so.
BrannoiV sent Levi in, so the story
goes, sayina, "N'oiW, C.'raddoek, you!
run that ball three times and then
punt!" !
"0/ K„ Coach,"
So, Bus says, Levi went in, carried.

Levi Craddoek
. . . I'unted ball, as ordered, on fourth
down from one yard line.
the ball three times, just. as ordered,
to the ppe-yard,line. On the next play
he, dropped back into punt formation
and "booted the ball'out of the sta-
squad. Not only does hia height help
him, but he ia also a good player. He
will get even better with age," Crad-
doek said. Kinney is only seventeen.
As for Bus Brannon, Craddoek says
he is "the quietest guy on the bench.
He never raises his voice and never
raises any hell with the players. He
just looks quietly around. At the
Bradley Tech game Gomel was going
into shoot a crip, and Bus got so ex
cited he fell off the bench and hit
the floor. When we picked him up,
he didn't say anything."
Craddoek's conference prediction is,
"We will win it. Baylor will be our
roughest game, even harder than S,
M. U."
Besides basketball Levi also finds
time for "blond-headed women" and
handball games with Dr. Scott and
Mr. Brunson,
Norwich University was the first
military-collegiate institution in the
United States,
New Jersey College for Women has
a new course called "Background for
War."
Seventy-eight Indiana University
graduates have become college pres-
idents. .
The American Youth Congress will
meet in the nation's capital from
February !) to 12.

Over the hills
Comes a little song
Cried aloud for Joy.
Oh come sing a song!
Uver the hills
The whole day long
Pipes a shepherd boy,
Oh come sing a song!
The hills are lush
With star filled sod
And the skies are deepest blue.
Oh, come sing a sor)g!
We'll sing all day ( ^
Like the wood-bound thrush
And drink our fill of dew.
Oh come situ? a song!
Over the hills
Comes a song afar
That's sung the whole day thru.
Oh come sing a song!
