Roosevelt's national defense "War

has moved s mo o t h 1 y into the

Breakfast at night is a new ex-

residents have been introduced,
and flashlights are in evidence be-
tween the dormitories and the aca-
demic building's. Traffic slows up
entering the Institute grounds and
parking lot attendants risk their
necks in dodging a stream of head-
lights.
Yawns Suppressed
111 classes yarns are suppressed
and eyelids a re propped open to
witness the break of day from a
classroom window—a moving spec-
tacle. A light fog and a heavy mist
added to the treneral gloom last
Monday and when, at 9 o'clock, one
disillusioned instructor entered a
brilliantly-lit classroom, he pointed
to the busy bulbs, remarked, "Sav-
ing electricity for national defense!"
Gradually, as the day wore on. the
j new schedule assumed the position
ot' routine and little attention waf
paid it. Little difficulty was encoun-
tered in inducing boarders to eat an
