Modern Sculpture Adds
Intrest to Music Room
Do your studies bore you? Do
you feel the need of relaxation?
Never before has the Music Room
offered, such a bargain—a SEAL
SWING. Yes, go up and see the
new addition, planted firmly in the
middle of the room: a log fashion-
ed in the form of a seal and sus-
pended by iron uprights.
And as you swing gaze at the in-
numerable cello players, mothers
with children, wrestlers, and grace-
ful females — all uniquely located.
But please don't wander in un-
awares, or you may stumble over
the cook who greets you at "the
door. If you look carefully you may
discern all the details, down to the
apron and oversize ladle.
The new exhibition is designed to
appeal to everyone. If you are a
frustrated athlete, you must go up
and play with the basketball play-
er. He wiggles. For the nature lov-
er there is a rather metallic, but
none' the less impressive looking
bird sailing around in a dark cor-
ner.
The exhibition is a collection of
original sculptures by Mr. David
Parsons of the Architecture De-
partment. These and others of his
works have won prizes in contests
throughout the country. Mr. Par-
son's sculptures do justice to Rice
and the Music Room, and are be-
ing thoroughly appreciated by all
those who go there to commune
with music, books and the SEAL,
