WILL RICE
. Will Rice College members and
their dates attempt to win
against the weather man tonight
with an outdoor dance at the
Houston Tennis Club. According
to Phil Peters and Gee John-
son, social chairmen, the pffair
will be casual; in fact a' bon-
fire will be built.
A three piece colored combo
will be on hand for the music,
three bartenders will be dispens-
ing set-ups, the first four of
towhich are covered by the price
of the tickets, namely, $1.00 per
couple.
Any thing to be diluted by the
set-ups must be furnished by
the individual. The time is from
1:30 to 11:00 and there will be
a place under cover if it does
rain.
^n succeeding weeks members
of the society will travel to Tex-
as Tech University in Lubbock
to defend Rice's Southwest Con-
ference championship and to
College Station for a tournament
sponsored by Texas A&M.
Rice will send a delegation of
twelve to TCU, accompanied by
Dr. Hubert E. Bray, professor of
mathematics and a faculty spon-
sor of the forensic society.
Those attending in the senior
division are: Charles Parnell and
Gerald Dansby, John Wolf and
Gary Webb, John Shanblum and
Judy Haddon, and Gregg Ed-

•will be represented in the jun-
ior division by Charles Kipple
and Dwight" Hunt and by Bill

squad distinguished themselves
in 1958. Parnell and Dansby won
first place at the Southwest Con-
ference Tournament last Decem-
ber. Neil Anderson and Harry
Reasoner claimed third place at
^ulane, the same tournament at
which Wolf and Webb and Jim

and "Till Then," as well as "Love

Hotel from 9-1.

Homecoming Committee points
out that there is actually a $3.50

Colleges Discipline Freshmen
With Room Arrest, Probation
Final action by the colleges
concerning the invasion of Jones
College by five freshmen October
19 has been taken.
The five, four from Will Rice
and one from Wiess, have been
placed under room arrest for two
weeks until the beginning of the
Thanksgiving holidays; then
they will be confined to the cam-
pus from the end of the Thanks-
giving holidays until the begin-
ning of the Christmas holidays.
The Will Rice slimes have been
placed on disciplinary probation
and the Wiess boy on College
probation.
Room Arrest Explained
•During the room arrest period
the frosh will not be allowed out-
side of their rooms except for
class, labs, and meals. During
the campus confinement period
the boys will not be allowed off
campus except for haircuts 'and
church attendance. These stu-
dents will be on their honor not
to violate the provisions of the
discipline and a breach thereof
is similar to a violation of the
Honor Pledge.
The disciplinary probation of
the four Will Rice boys will not
go on their permanent record.
The principal result will be a
letter sent home to their parents
by the Dean's Office informing
them of the action taken.
Under the college probation
a similar letter will be sent by
Dr. Talmage, Master of Wiess
