IT IS IN THE AIR
These cooler days and pleasant nights remind us that fall is here. Everything is taking on new life. THERE IS A
HUSTLE ON. Just now there is great activity among the school children preparing to enter school for the fall term.

There Is a Merry Hustle on Among The Farmers
Harvesting: a bountiful crop. It is indeed a sight to see the loads upon loads of cotton, the streams of wagons bring-
ing in corn, hay, oats and wheat, and many other products of the farm. You can't stand on the streets of Belton these
days and see all this and imagine such a thing as a panic. Verily, the panic is over for a truth, and old Bell surely is
in the midst of PEACE, PLENTY AND PROSPERITY.

WE HAVE BEEN HUSTLING
around some ourselves. For some time we have
been expecting and getting ready for the biggest trade
in the history of Belton, this fall. We are trimming
the sales, getting everything out of the way, and con-
centrating our efforts to one end, and that is to offer
the buying public, this fall, such an array of splendid,
seasonable bargains at prices that will compel the
dollars to fly our way.
No More Credit
Books closed now. There is a time for all things,
and with us this is the season when we must REAP
THE DOLLARS. We always appreciate and solicit
prompt paying 30 day accounts. These accounts are
regarded as cash in town where it is the established
custom to collect on the first of each month.

Dnnvln explains how islands get
' their forest growth in this manner:
He took from the foot of a wood-
cock a cake of dry earth in whioh
was a seed of the load rust He
planted the seed, and it germinat«d
and flowered. Prof. Newton sent
him the leg of a partridge which
had been wounded and unable to fly.
Attached to it was a clod of earth
weighing 6Vs ounce#. He broke up
the clod and placed It under a bell
glass. No fewer than 82 plants
sprang from it. It is the more In-
teresting to know that the clod of
earth containing this treasury was
kept three years before planting.
It is believed In this manner Beeds
of various trees have been carried
and deposited on far-away islands
where the product has grown and in-
creased.

POKED FUN AT NOBLES.
William Redmond, the Irish lead-
er in the British house of commons,
recently in a genial mood and in
playful allusion to the titles of no-
bility and knighthood recently con-
ferred, asked whether, "as a matter
of general convenience and in order
that honorable members might know
how to address their colleagues with
becoming respect, it could be ar-
ranged that honorable gentlemen
who had joined the titled classes
should wear rosettes for at least one
month after the conferment of the
title." No minister was bold enough
to answer.
