Prof. A.' libei (r. J'.ri.-.vn, i^y whom they have Vilely

the depaxtmenl of Ancient Languages in the Univer-
sity of North Carolina, an 1 afterwards, the Pri lei-
pal of a Srleet Preparatory School, of tlys higlitst
grade, in ihfit State. He has now removed to Ai
lcnnsas, and established at Roclsy Comfort, ki
Sevier County, a Male, aiid a Female Seminary
both of which are t,o be conducted under his super-
vision, and adapted panicu'iirly |0 the educational
demauds of the South-West.
The Male Academy will afford unusual advan-

atic course of instruction in the several departments
of literature and science, to bo preparatory to the
highest classes of aay American College or Univer-

Principal proposes to accomplish nothing more than
what, in other fields of labor hitherto, it has been
his special province to perform. In the present en-
terprise, however, he confidently expects that, by
laying the foundations of the students' education
himself, he w'il enjoy nven greater advantages for
ensuring succcss. It is thus only that solidity and
symmetry of scholarship are attained, and a thor-
ough mental discipline acquired. These are^he
prime objects which he aims to promote, atjjpto
which rlie fruits of a hmg experience in teaching,
shall ne sedulously applied.
Miss Elizabeth L Brown will co-operate with
her brother, in audapting the same principles and
views to the government of the Female Seminary,
utt'Jer his direction. This lady is also an expe-
rienced teacher, whose; qualifications are attested by
several individuals of distinguished authority in
North Carolina, who, in different positions, have
known Jie value of her services. Among these, k
Rev. Aldcrt Smedes. D. D., Rector of the highly
popular Seminary lor young ladies at Raleigh, in
whieh she has been very acceptably employed here-

Prof Brown's references are to the Trustees,
Faculty, and Alumni generally, of his A'ma Ma'er,
