pletely destroyed.

bily dressed men with Ameiioan ac
cent deposited £12,000 in a Cork
bank, and were arretted on suspicion
of complicity in the recent swindle of
the Bank of England.

this evening the report of the ooin^

tions in the matter of expunging
from the Journals of the Legisla-
ture, resolutions of censure on Sen-
ator Sumner.
Tbe House refused the substitute
rescinding aud annulling a resolu-
tion of tbe last Legislature, which
was offered by the miuorrty of tbe
Committee on Federal Relations, by
a vote of 49 to 67-
The substitutes offered during
the ten days debate ou the subject
were all rejected, as was the mo>
tion to indefinately postpone tbe
matter ; the latter was rejeoted by
a vote of 32 to 130, and the report
of the Committee giving leave for
withdrawal of the petitions for the
recinding of resolutions was then
adopted. The report will come up
n the Senate in a day or two.
Macon, Ga., March 19.—A fire
broke out on Cotton Avenue at 3
O'olock this tnorniog. Tbe fire de-
stroyed twenty buildings, • twelve of
which ware .stores and shops. The
buildings were all wood.
Chicago, March 19.—A gang of
drunken Irishmen invaded a merman
bar room on South Halstead street
this morning and bocame involved in
a fight. Albert Guts was held by
three Irishmen while Luke Haley
opened a knife and out biB throat from
ear to ear. Haley and his comrades
were secured. It seems Haley was
first assaulted.
