Camp ortssTBBCTios.—Two requisitions
have bees made upon Gov. Clarke fcr three
and five thousand men for service in the
Confederate tn'uiy, to he made op of volun-
teers. President Davis has dearly signi-
fied in bis requisition that the troops shall
be drilled, disciplined and equipped as
infantry of tha line, aost reliable
force when properly schooled, in, the com-
pany aad b ittalion drill. They have to
meet disciplined troops, with the most
perfect zxms «nd regularly educated offi-
cers. How is this great object of disci-
plining infantry to be accomplished? An-
swer, by camps of instruct ion.
Gov. Clarke ia fully aware of the impor-
tance of these camps. He has Seen in

*ther up to the 16th was excessively dry
d hot. The regular range of the the-
imeter, a* meridian, for the last few
■eks, has been 92 to 98 degrees Fahren-
heit, and oa the 7th it Bteod from II to 12
•'aleek, at 108 degrees. The first rain that
Ms visited this section since the 23rd of
BMMkher last, teH oa the night of Wed-
nesday, the loth inst. Notwithstanding
this, the health of the troops oontinue good,
and considering the unaccustomed fatigue
and exposure, remarkably so. A train
from Port Mcintosh a 4 Laredo, a few days
ago, reports the crops suffering greatly
from the want of rain; but from the rise of
the river hare,aad the appearance of heavy
clouds ia that direction, we are led to
believe that ere this they have been blessed
by an abundant foil of that much needed
and meet welcome visitor. I was misin-
formed relative to the fortification of Mat-
amoras. The mistake arose from the Mex-
iftaas building hug* brick kilns where
their batteries are tuuafy placed. The
beat feelings continue to exist between that
city and our people. Hataaoras is fast
becoming a large and prosperous city, ow-
ing to the advantage of being the only free
port of entry in Mexico; but I leant that
tbe Jnares Government is abont to close it.
If this should be done, it will prove a sad
drawbaak to the city.

in a Washington paper:

take the oath for three moaths, for It was
stipulated that they were t* be mustered in

may be true, aad It may not be, there are
so many contradictory reports circulating
by telegraph, that it Is impossible to de-
termine the truth or falsity of any of them,
