RANDOM
Monday we had a funeral for soma
one that everybody loved.
Monday w • said "Till w t. meet
again " to a very dear fiiend,
Gus Schaefer spent many hours of
hi- younger year.- in the Advertisi i
office, and during the past few year-,
he has been correspondant for th-.-
Austin American-Stati smart and all
of the big Texas dailie.-. So he kind
of "belonged" in the Advertiser of-
fice.
He was likely to pop into the of-
fice at any time during the day with
a gay greeting, or a joke to tell. Al-
ways full of fun and always laugh-
ing, his presence broeght pleasuie
not only into our lives, but into the
lives of eveiy one else, as he went
up and down Main Street
Gus had n.o enemies. He couldn't
have, because he was every body'*
friend. In all of the years we have
known him, seeing him and talking
to him day after day. we have never
heard him make an unkind remark
about anybody, noi criticize any ef-
forts that were made by the town,
or any organization, or any indivi-
dual. Upright and honorable in all
I of his contacts with ptople, his lit*--
1 was an inspiration to us, and we
• know that we are better for having
! known him.
j We grieve for him because we mis.-.
him so much, and because we know
j that the vacancy he leaves in th-
i heart.- of his friends and in the town
i will not be quickly filled.
Hut what is death but a transi-
tion, the beginning of a greater lift ?
So we brush aside the tears that com-'
at pasting, and say, "So long, Gu-,
until we meet again!"
