early Sunday morning.
The following rhyme was written
by a fellow serviceman of Hdq. Co..
First Battalion, 406th Infantry, in
compliment to Corporal George Ely
Sr., of Lebanon, Pa„ now at Camp
Swift Cpl Ely is a frequent visitor
to the I'SO Club. Very modest about
speaking of his overseas duty, he is
much admired by the boys in his
company.
POP ELY
Toda> there is one in the company
who did see
The drive of the Allies to the Medi-
terranean Sea,
In pursuit of Rommel and his Afrika
Korps,
To teach old "Desert Fox" the demo-
cratic law. |
Referring to Pop, who should be a
civilian;
A soldier at 45, he's one in a million. ;
Wounded in battle and evacuated i
from the xone,
He cleared through the hospitals with i
a free ticket home
j To the abode of the Ozark where the j
102nd reside,
Soldiering once again with resolution
and pride.
Yet "Over There" rings in Pop's ears
today,
As he strives once again to enter the
f ray
Of combat, action and incessant
danger.
Here's a toast to Pop Ely, truly an
American Ranger!
The Bingo prir.e winner this week
was Sgt Joe Manes of Steubenville,
Ohio, who called his sister in Wash-
ington, I). C.
The boys of the 102nd Division are
all very enthusiastic about the show,
"Ozark Kapcra," that they are pre-
senting next week at Camp We hope
to have them stage it for us in our
Club very soon. Watch for announce-
ments. Several of the soldiers' wives
assisted in making costumes for one
number.

Nighttime is about the best time a service man
has to call home. That's n good point to remem-
ber when you feel the urge to make a Long
Distance call between 7 and 10 p.m. ... If it
isn't important, we hope you won't make it.
Please let the men in service have
first call on the wires.
