Texas National Guard, will take
place at an all clay recruiting
drive to be held in the Court-
house, Bastrop, Friday, January
31st.
("apt, Law.son Kivers, Elgin, is
th< company c< nr.mander. The unit
will have a full strength 0f six
officers and 12*1 enlisted men. Two
officers and thirteen men are re-
quired fur initial organization.
Th<' 111th Ordnance company
was originally organized infany
years ago. It is a non-divisional
unit under the direct command of
thi Headquarters, Texas National
Guard, In maneuvers it will be
the supporting ordnance mainten-
ance unit for the entire National
Guard.
Headquarters of the unit will
be in Bastop. Recruiting office
in the courthouse will be open
from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Friday.
ELECTED DUCHESS
TO SNOW BALL
Miss Evelyn Hoffman was elect-
ed duchess to the annual College
Know Ball from the Sophomore
Class at the College of Incarnate
Word, in San Antonio.
The affair was held in tn*
college gymnasium on January IK,
and was one of unusual beatuy.
The guests were greeted by the
huge figure of a polar bear, sitting
amid snow and ice and pawing a
huge snowball. The orchestra play-
ed upon a massive icelierg; rein-
deer stood among t,nowy branches^
and icicles, snowballs, and ice coat-
ed trees sparkled brilliantly.
The "Queen of the Snow Ball"*
and her court presided over the
festival.
Miss Hoffman is the daughter
of Mr. ami Mrs. Johnny Hoffman,
and a graduate of the Bastrop
High School.

delicious buffet refreshment
