THORNBERRY TO
CONTINUE WITH
CLEAN CAMPAIGN
Austin, Texas (Special)- With
three weeks remaining in the cam-
paign for United States Congress-
man, Homer Thornberry has ex-
pressed confidence that Irs big
first-primary lead will be increas-
ed in the run-off vote, August 28.
Thornberry led a six-man field
with more than double the votes
of his nearest opponent in the
July primary.
"Bastrop County helped pile up
that lead," he said. "And I be-
lieve that Bastrop County voters
will give me an even bigger lead
in the run off."
Thornberry said he will con-
tinue meeting as many people
in the Tenth District "as I can get
to see in the next three weeks."
He said he will continue to em-
phasize a clean campaign stress-
ing issues and his experience in
state, county, and city affairs.
"We all knov that two danger-
ous problems face this country.
One is war or peace. The other
is the cost of living. I am con-
fident that the voters of the
Tenth Congressional District will
again demand experience to meet
these problems."

AN INVITATION
O ye that wander, ye that roam,
Be ye near or far away,
Know ye that the folks back home
Appoint a glad reunion day
And are expecting you to come.
Ole River murmurs come once
more
And play upon my sandy shore,
| The stately pine trees whisper
I they
Will look for you that happy day.
The folks about the old home town
Are waiting with a howdy hand
Parson, Mayor, Banker, Clown
A glorious time for you have
planned;
Games, contests, a big parade,
| Hot do«s, balloons and lemonade
j And dancing to a fiddle band.
The roads are wide, the skies are
blue,
The fatted calves are in the stalls,
. Old friends and neighbors wait
for you,
A voice within your own self calls
Come back and spend a day or
t two
Before the final curtain falls.
Be ye near or be ye far
You must not miss reunion day
Just board a bus or crank the car
' And start right down the broad
highway
And don't you ever dare to stop
