ANNUAL JUNIOR-SENIOR
PROM HELD APRIL
TWENTY-NINTH
The beautiful Bastrop State
Park Refectory was the scene
of the annual Junior-Senior Prom
neld on Saturday the twenty-ninth
of April at seven o'clock in the
evening.
The long dining room was trans-
formed into a .spring garden scene
with red roses climbing on white
trellises and masses of roses and
greenery placed before the fire-
place- at either end of the room.
The head table was centered with
an arrangement of red and white
flowers. The individual tables
were arranged in tin shape of a
horse shoe, each centered with a
white candle nestled in red roses
and greenery. Place cards were
white with red roses painted on
them.
R. J. Wolf, president of the
Junior Class gave the Invocation
and acted as master of ceremonies.
A poem "That Success" was read
by Miss Lorene Lee. Miss Judy
McLeod gave the Senior Class
Prophecy, aftg>r which the de-
licious menu consisting of fried
chicken, creamed potatoes, black
eyed peas, hot rolls, iced tea,
angel food cake, vanilla ice cream
designed with a red rose, the
senior class flower, was served.
Following the dinner .Miss Rur-
nell Powell gave the Senior Class
Will. Miss Joann Schaefer, presi-
dent of the Senior Class expressed
the class' appreciation for the
lovely affair. Tommy Chalmers
prseented Mrs. Sam V. Jones,
Senior sponsor, with a bouquet of
red rcses, which is the class flower,
and Mrs. M. M. Perkins, Junior
sponsor, with a bouquet of red
carnations, the Junior Class flower.
The girls in their lovely pastel
colored formals made a picturesque
scene for the dancing which con-
cluded the evening's entertain-

\V. E. Rranyon entertained the
Cub Scout troop with a weiner
roast in the Rastrop State Park
Friday night. Twenty-five scouts
and several parents attended.

HARMONY CLUB HOSTESS
Mr.-. Lawrence Schewe was hos-
tess to the Harmony Club Thurs-
day, April 27, in the home of
Mrs. W. B. Ransome.
Final plans were made to bring
to Rastrop a fi.l] program for
music week, May 7-14.
Mrs. \V. R. Ransome was direct-
or of the afternoon and brought
to the group a program of Chopin's
beautiful music for the organ. A
short sketch of his talented and
brilliant life was given. Mrs. Ran-
some divided her program into
two groups. A soft melodious group
consisting of "Adagio," "I.ibe-
straum", "Song To The Evening
Star." The last group consisted
of "Prelude in C Minor," "Prelude
in A Major" and "Nocturne."
At the conclusion of the pro-
gram refreshments of lime sher-
bet punch, cookies and nuts were
served from the dining table cen-
tered with a lovely arrangement
of .-pring flowers.

Miss Anna B. Stafsholt, mis-
sionary to Liberia, West Africa,
will be a guest speaker at the
Assembly of God Church, accord-
ing to an announcement made by
Reverend Wayland Woodall, pas-
tor, Friday evening, May 5. Miss
Staf.-holt, who is under appoint-
ment of the Foreign Missions De-
partment of the Assemblies of
God, headquarters in Springfield,
Missouri, will be telling of her
experiences as a teacher in a
Rryson, Miss Esther V. Anderson,
Mrs. Jess Walker, Mrs. A. C.
Smith, Mrs. E. R. Barnhill and
Mr.*. Maude Herodon. Members
present were Mr John Allen,
Mrs. A. P. Smith, Mrs. David

ENTERTAINED WITH
ICE CREAM SUPPER
The Men's Rible Class of the
First Methodist Church entertain-
ed the members of both the Junior
and Senior Choirs of the church
with an ice cream supper in the
church basement on Thursday
evening of last week.
Bible Institute in Liberia, and
of other labors in the interior of
the Republic.
It was in lt 38 that Miss Staf-
sholt first went to the mission
field. During her stay there she
has seen quite a number of na-
tional workers prepared for full-
time service as pastors a n d
teachers. The students have been
from some of the most undevelop-
ed areas of Liberia Between
school terms she worked among
village people, and is thoroughly
acquainted with existing condi-
tions in Liberia.
Before going into tlft* mission
field Miss Stafsholt wa an in-
structor at the Southern Bible
School at Houston, Texas. She
also was engaged for some time
in evangelistic work. While in the
States 011 her first furlough she
served on the faculty of the South-
ern California Bible College at
Pasadena.
Reverend Woodall extends a
cordial invitation to the public
to hear Miss Stafsholt tell of
he- experiences in Liberia and
of conditions in the country today.
The service begins at 7:4.r>.
Win Second Place
In District Judging
A 4-H Dairy team consisting of
Richard Wolf, 'Stanley Smith and
Joe Lee Rathman won second place
in the District competition at
A&M College. The judging was
held on Monday, May 1. The team
was accompanied by the County
Agent D. H. McCombs.
Their total score was 104S out
of a possible 1200.
