The Homemakers I Chapter of
the Future Homemakers of the
Baitrop Hiph School were hos-
tesses on Tuesday morning at a
party honoring their president,
Ann Taylor, who will transfer to
Smithville next semester.
Roll call was answered by each
member giving a wish for Ann in
her new school.
A gift from the members of
the chapter and one from the
sponsor were presented the
honoree.
Refreshments of tuna sand-
wiches, potato chips, ginger ale
and cookies were served by the
social committee with Barbara
Wilson serving as chairman.

The Friendship Home Demon-
stration Club met on January 11
at the home of Mrs, Robert Kellev.
M rs. M. W. Kelley, chairman,
opened with meeting by leading
in the repeating of the club pray-
er in unison.
Mrs. Etta Ringgold, past pres-
ident, was presented with the
book, "Sermon on the Mount," as
a gift from the club. Three new
members were enrolled, and plans
for the new year were made.
Refreshments of ice cream and
home made cookies were served
during the >ocial hour.

READING CIRCLE MEETING
Dr. E. L. Angell of College
Station, actively connected with
the Texas Economic Commission,
explained in detail the object-1
ives of the commission, and the j
reason for having been created 1
at the regular meeting of the1
Ladies Reading Circle held at the j
home of Mrs. J. G. Bryson on i
Friday afternoon of last week.
Dr. Angell was introduced by
Mrs. W. E. Maynard, who is study
chairman of the Bastrop County
Committee, a part of the Texas
Economic Commission.
Mrs. I). B McCombs was pro-
gram leader for the afternoon,
using as her theme, Texas Day.
She presented Mrs. Sam J. C.
Higgins who spoke on Texas
"Exes," in which she discussed
prominent Texans of today includ-
ing Allan Shivers, Lyndon B.
Johnson, Tom Connally, Sam Ray-
burn and several others.
Miss Lena Sturges gave a few-
outstanding facts about Texas,
and conducted an imaginary tour
of the state, including outstand-
ing points of historical and scenic
interest.
M rs. R. H. Brieger, president
of the club, presided over the
brief business session before the
program.
During the social hour, the
guests were invited into the din-
ing room, where the dining table
was centered with a tall, hand
dipped red and white candle, bank-
ed with foliage. Four smaller
white tapers burned around it,
and featured around the outer j
edges of the arrangement were '
the six flags under which Texas 1
has served.
M rs. W. E. Maynard poured tea
and coffee, and sandwiches, mints,
nuts, cookies, olives and fruit j
cake were served.

BIBLE STORY
The Lottie Moon Sunbeam Band
met Tuesday of Inst week at the
First Baptist Church, when Mrs.
Jack Corbel! brought the Bible
Story from Acts 9:9-19. A review
of the story the week before was
given by the Sunbeams.
After a missionary story in the
life of Adoniram Judson, sentence
prayers were prayed by the Sun-
beams, and handwork was done
on the color books.

WATERMELON AND
TOMATO MEETING
AT MC DADE
There will be a watermelon and
tomato insect and disease control
meeting at McDade school house
at 2:00 P.M. on Monday. January
28th. If any one plans to plant
melon.-, tomatoes or other closely
associated crop-, they would bene-
fit by attending this meeting, ac-
cording to county agent Darius
B. McCombs.
The meeting is being held early
in order for the farmer to make
his plans now. Don't forget the

fide inhabitant of the State of
Texa- for more than one year and
a resident of Bastrop County,
Texas, for more than six months
next immediately preceding the
filing of this suit. Thit plaintiff
and defendant were duly and legal-
ly married in September, 1945.
That in October 194.r>, the
ant without cause or explanation,
abandoned the plaintiff. i;nd left
for parts unknown with the in-
tention of permanent abandon-
ment plaintiff.
That in June 1946 there was
born to said plaintiff and defend-
ant one child, named Francis
Costello. Said child being now in
the custody of plaintiff.
Wherefore Plaintiff prays that
defendant be cited to appear and
answer herein, that she have
judgment for divorce on grounds
of abandonment, fur care and cus-
tody "f -aid minor child, cost of
suit and fur such other and fur-

I want to correct a mistake I
made in my letter last week about
the Funeral of Mr. Julius Bartsch.
1 failed to get it all correct.
Julius Bartsch died after a
short illness on January 2, 1951
at 10:.'U> a. m. at the home of
his son, Herman Bartsch, at
Marion, Texas. He was 87 years,
2 months and 15 days of age.
He was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Seguin. Father
Moore held the funeral services
and Father Herbertus preached the
sermon and was in charge of the
burial services.
Mr. Bartsch was married to
Anna Vendrick who preceded him
in death eleven years ago.
Surviving him are eight child-
ren, Frank Bartsch Mrs. Frank
Wtndland. Mrs, Albert Lehmnrm,
Pius Bartsch, Mrs. Roy Miller,
Allfred Bartsch, Mr- Charlie
Hoffman, and Herman Bartsch.
He'll l>e greatly missed by hi-
family, relatives and friend-

Joe Bartsch. were laid to rest
many years ago.

a business visitor in this com-
munity Monday.

S. Milton, at City Hall in Bas-
trop, Texas a full anil careful in-
ventory of all taxable property,
held, owned or controlled by them
as of the first day of January
of the current year, said rendition
to he made between January 10
and April 1 of each year, failure
to do so will subject you to a
fine of not exceeding 1100.00.
