Bastrop Ladies Reading Circle on
Friday afternoon in the home of
Mrs. J. Gordon Hryson. Mrs. J. I*.
Sharp was eo-hostess with Mrs.
Bryson.
M rs. David Karlinp was pro-
gram leader and although she
was unable to attend she had ar-
ranged for the following program
to be presented:
Mrs. Dechard gave a reading on
the life of Peter Manshendel;
Mrs. Valentine, president of the j
Quill Club read a few < f her ori-j
irinal poems and sonnets: Mrs.
Lander gave a story for the Aus-
tin's Womans Club "More Ways
of Killing a Cat"; Mrs. McFar- nex.
land's story was "Not You Plans were
Father"; Miss Lucas read poems; vidual display
Mrs. K och gave her original j
poems and sonnets and Mrs. Lan-
der read poems by Mrs. J. H.
Baugh and a story "The Grand-
child" by Mrs. L. T. Adams.
Mrs. Sam J. C. Higgins, presi-
dent. presided over the business
session.
During the social hour Mrs.
Higgins poured tea or coffee and
Miss Dorothy Rrvson served at
the buffet.
The tea table was attractively
decorated with arrangements of
red poppies and lighted green
candles.
