in 1945.
An estimated $28,000 insurance
was carried on the building and
$2,000 on the fixtures.
This was the largest fire Bas
trop has experienced in a number
of years. Practically every per-
son in town wa* there during the
three hours or more of fire
fighting.
A number of office workers
had left the building at 5:30 p.
m. Sheriff I. R. Hoskins and De-
puty Sheriff Jimmy Nutt, were
"Trail of the Lost Pines" will

nual Garden Club Flower Show-
on Wednesday, April 22, accord-
ing to Mrs. ii. M. Wiley, chair-
man of the staging committee.
The Show will be held at the
American Legion Center and is
open to the public from three to
nine o'clock. Mrs. R. M. Waugh
is general chairman of the Show.
Mrs. T. J. Holbrook, president
of the Violet Crown Garden Club,
and two other Austin ladies will
serve as judges.

5. All flowers and plants must
be grown by the exhibitors ex-
cept in the decorative arrange-
ment classes. Growing plants
Section II, entered for competi-
tion shall have been grown by the
exhibitor for at least three
months.
(5. The show committee is not
responsible for containers, and
other properties, although every
reasonable care will be exercis-
ed. All items should be marked
underneath with the owners
name.
7. Exhibitors must state to
which class each entry belongs.
No more than one entry is al-
lowable in any one class except
where the class is subdivided, in
which case one entry is allowed
in each subdivision; such as,
Bush Roses, (1) Red, (2) Pink,
etc.
8. All exhibits entered in the
horticultural classes must be
grown by the exhibitor, botani-
cally named, if possible, shown in
clear glass containers, and will
be judged on horticultural per-
fection.
9. Judges may award ribbons
at their discretion and their de-
cision is final. If a class has
one ov two entries, the judges
have the ripht to award prizes
at their discretion.
10. Collections must be shown
in clear glass containers, in pint
quart or half gallon milk bot-
tles, according to the size of the
exhibit.
11. Arrangements should be
made at home as only minor ad-
justments will be allowed after
bringing them to the place of
the show.
12. The Fischer Color Chart
to be found in "Handbook of
Flower Show Judging" issued
by the National Council of State
Garden Clubs, Inc., shall be us-
ed in judging the special color
types or arrangements such as
in Section III. classes 17 and 18.
13. Exhibitors must furnish
carti table in Section III, class
IS. All persons except Flower
1 Show chairmen, the "clerks, and
the judges, shall be excluded
from the show, while judging is
taking pla.e.
lo. There is no charge for en-
tering or viewing the Flower
Show.
16. There will be a division
for men exhibitors and for ju-
j nior exhibitors.
17. In the Hobbies Section on-

18. A table or other means for
