To Hold Hearing Aid
Consultation Here
Monday, March 25
A fabuious new miracle inven-
tion that enables the deaf to hear
clearly again with both ears is
revealed by Gabriel Heatter in
this month's Reader's Digest, ac-
cording to Mrs. H. R. Mayhall
of the Beltone Hearing Service,
Austin.
Heatter discloses that this ra
dically different invention does
away with the handicaps of try-
ing to heai with just one ear,
so that people can tell who is
talking and where sounds are
coming from. It gives amazing
iy natural, full diniemsional,
easier to understand hearing.
"1 urge everyone with a heal-
ing problem to discover how this
great invention, B'eltone Hear
mg Glasses, may help them over
come hearing loss as never be
fore," Heatter states in his ar
tide. "A powerful hearing aid
is hidden inside the smart,
streamlined glasses, with a tiny
almost invisible tube that car
rics sound to the ear. There is
no receiver button, no cord. You
look and feel so natural."
To acquaint hard of hearing
readers of this newspaper with
all the exciting facts about this
new way to hear again with both
ear . Mr. Mayhall will hold a
free hearing aid consultation
here at the Bastrop Hotel Mon-

Horn Talks On
Graphio Analysis
Al Convention
During the past weekend John
Horn, dire tor of the Bastrop
Bear band, attended the Texas
Convention of Grapho Analysts
in Fort Worth. There he wa.-
one of th*- featured speakers,
discussing the use of Handwrit-
i ing Analysis in education.
There are around 2-r>0 Grapho
Analyst- in Texas and about
1(1.000 throughout the world. The
convention was held Saturday
and Sunday and people from
New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado
and Louisiana came to meet with
the Texas Grapho Analysts.
Mrs. Blanche Horn, mother of
Bastrop's John Horn, has been
the executive secretary of the
Texas Grapho Analysts and John
S. Horn, his father, is now on
the board of directors of the
International Grapho Analysts
Society Inc.
j The science of Grapho Ana-
lysis determines a person's psy-
chological make-up from his
handwr'ing, by analyzing the
strokes that make up a letter
and piecing together different
traits of the writer until, with
a completed analysis, a Grapho
Analyst is able to tell the way
a person thinks. He is not able
to tell what a person thinks, or
what will happen to him in the
future. Grapho Analysis is an
other branch of psychological
testing that his proven to be
the most accurate way to deter-
mine the workings of the mind
known today.
Mr. Horn's talk at the Tex-
as Convention dealt with the
ways that handwriting analysis
can be used in the public schools
as an aid to the teacher in un-
derstanding the students hidden
talents and possibilities.
Mr. Horn started studying
Grapho Analysis when in the
Army through the International
Grapho Analysis Society Inc. of
Springfield, Missouri. After
studying for about a year and a
half, Mr. Horn was invited to
speak at the International Con
veiition of Grapho Analysts held
in Springfield, 111., this past sum-
mer. While in the Army, he
was secretary to the Alamo
Chapter of the Texas Grapho
Analysts in San Antonio. Since
being released from the Army,
he has written a paper at the
University of Texas on the use
of Grapho .Analysis in Music
Kducation and the same subject
has now been approved for his
thesis for a master's degree in
Music Kducation.

ISastrop Band
I To Enter Contests
Thursday
The Hastrop Hear Band will
enter the Interscholastic League
contests in San Marcos, begin-
ning at 10 a. m. Thursday, ac-
' cording to John Horn, director.
They will compete against the
-tandard of excellence, hoping
to win a first division, Mr. Horn
-aid. also calling attention to the
fact that there are 6(5 bands
participating in ).he contest from
this area, with 11 bands in the
-aine class with Bastrop.
Contest selections to be play-
ed by the Bastrop Band are
"Little Jumbo March", "The
Song of Jupiter" and "The Tra-
veler". They will also partici-
pate in a sight reading contest
in which the band plays through
two pieces of music which they
have never seen before. They
will be judged on the degree of
skill that each player possesses
and the general sound of the
band as to the accuracy of phras-
ing. pitch, rhythm and interpre-
tation of the music.
"Since the end of the football
season, the members of the Bas-
. trop Bear Band have been pre-
paring themselves for the an-
nual hand contest of the Inter-
scholastic League," Mr. Horn
pointed out, "but this has not
been the limit of their activi-
ties. Since the band is a sub-
ject in the curriculum and stu-
dents in the high school who
lake band recievc just as much
credit as for any other subject,
the purpose of the band pro-
gram is designed to help the
students grow in musical exper-
! ience.'
